A small plane that crashed near Corfu in upstate New York is owned by Steve Barnes, best known as one of the celebrity personal injury legal team Cellino & Barnes, according to a report.

Quoting a Genesee County Sherrif’s Office source, reports said one man and one woman were aboard and neither survived.

Jeannie McBride, of Spectrum News Buffalo, tweeted earlier: “The plane that crashed in Corfu, NY is registered to attorney Steve Barnes from Cellino & Barnes. We just confirmed this with Cellino’s attorney, Terry Connors. Barnes is a registered pilot. The firm is working to identify who was on the plane and their conditions.”

While Mr Connors, confirmed to the outlet that the plane is registered to Mr Barnes, it was unclear if he was piloting the plane at the time of the crash.

Mr Barnes is one half of the well-known personal injury lawyers, Cellino & Barnes, famous for their catchy jingle, “888 8888” and billboards across New York.

The pair have been undergoing a high-profile split of their law firm, and Mr Cellino recently said that Mr Barns had finally agreed to dissolve their partnership, according to Law.com.
