AI reimagines famous movie dance scenes
Text-to-image and text-to-video generators have opened up many new possibilities for still and video creations. Weâve already seen some pretty cool AI-generated music videos, often made by turning lyrics and verses into pictures.
Eclectic Method (aka Jonny Wilson) has done things a little differently. He made a music video reimagining iconic dance scenes as AI-generated animations. And unlike the two I linked above, itâs not creepy at all â itâs pure fun and it looks really interesting.
Jonny is a video remixer, music maker, and a DJ. His beginnings included splicing together music, TV, and film and setting the samples to high-energy dance beats. This led him to some amazing collaborations with all sorts of musicians and productions, including U2, Motown, Comedy Central, Fatboy Slim, and many others.
The video is actually a remake of Jonnyâs earlier video for Everybody Wants to Dance. He created a dance supercut over Jamiroquai line âEverybody wants to danceâ and made the music video using some of the most notable dance scenes from movie history. They feature movies as old as 1951 The Royal Wedding right up to the 2014 Ex Machina. âThere is obviously a healthy dose of John Travolta who appears in more legendary dance scenes than any other actor dancer,â Jonny notes. Indeed, thatâs one of the things I couldnât help but notice, too.
Since AI-generated images have exploded in popularity and availability, Jonny reimagined his earlier video using AI generators.
