Lexar – The Need for Speed!

Lexar Professional CFexpress Type A and Diamond Type B Cards

FOR THE MOST data intensive work the solution is to work with CFexpress cards, which are significantly faster than even UHS-II SD cards, and many high-end cameras such as the Nikon Z 6 II and Z 7 II, Nikon Z 9 and Canon EOS R3 and R5 employ this format. It’s particularly useful if you’re looking to work extensively with 8K video, and the latest Lexar Professional CFexpress cards are hugely up to the task, designed to test the boundaries of speed and performance.

CFexpress cards come in different sizes, the most common for photographers and videographers being Type A and Type B. The Type B cards are designed to offer the fastest speeds, and their size is identical to that of the older and slower XQD cards, and often they’re compatible. Meanwhile Type A cards are currently solely used in Sony cameras. Overall, CFexpress cards are the fastest memory cards currently available in the market.

Lexar Professional CFexpress cards are available in both Type A and Type B sizes, the Type A Gold version featuring a read speed of up to 900 MB/s and a write speed of up to 800MB/s, currently the fastest of its type. Lexar Professional’s Diamond Series Type B card, meanwhile, comes with an industry-leading read speed of up to 1900 MB/s, while the write speed is up to an impressive 1700 MB/s. It’s a performance that allows the card to capture smooth RAW 8K, 6K and 4K footage, with sustained performance.
