on them for weddings. For us, that’s the thing that sets us apart as professionals, and being able to combine our lights with mirrorless cameras is an absolute dream.”

Brent recalls the early days when he and Kate were shooting weddings together. “Kate was working with strobes shooting the stills, and I would be shooting video, but obviously having to live with the fact this was picking up the flashlight. At the time stills were the most important thing, but now that’s changed and with more couples wanting video coverage as well, we needed to find an alternative.”

At first Kate was resistant about giving up flash since she didn’t feel that continuous lighting was powerful enough, particularly for the bigger group set-ups, but when Rotolight introduced the AEOS things changed and suddenly there was a system available to use that perfectly suited both parties.

“There are so many features of the lights that we love,” says Kate. “The fact that they’re cool running is essential, as is our ability to change the colour balance so easily, especially when we’re working together as a team of four, as we often are and need a specific Kelvin reading. We can all just dial in a certain white balance and then everything matches and it saves a huge amount of time.
