I may have missed this but what is the brand of the fridge/freezer? Thank you!
Nice video, thanks. Any idea what size of solar package would be adequate to keep that running without draining the batteries?
But will a 160 watt solar panel keep the battery charged while the fridge is on? I'm hearing the fridges draws about 2000 watts per day and would need much more than a 160 watt solar panel to keep up with the draw per day. Reason i am concerned is i am away from the trailer for 5 days at a time so would the 12v or gas/electric be a better option? I know if lightening knocks power out while gone it would switch to gas but then how much gas would it use and would it be out within 5 days? With two propane tanks does it use off of both tanks at same time or does it need to be switched over?
TY
Does the fridge temperature light blink? I had that question because I want to know if it’s supposed to do that?
My fridge is just like that one – the compressor runs 95% of the time – I don’t know why – its 3 years old and I bought it 6 months ago – any insights would be greatly appreciated on this. The Fridge works great plugged in and I have not tried boondocking it yet. I have two regular RV batteries but am thinking of installing two LIon Lithium batteries from Costco I have. Don’t see how the compressor can run all the time without a significant drain on batteries but they say these are low amp usage so I hope someone figures this out – the fridge is clean etc. but I can’t get to the back of it to really see what is going on with the compressor and the pipes.
nice video great job !
in my Jayco 24.5 ckts fithwheel , i have a Norcold N8XFRT, 12 volt and gaz, 8 cu feet. It will not cool right in the fridge section and make a lot of ice on the rear elements, and water thru out the fridge section all the time. The freezer is working fine . i notice that there is no cycle heater to melt the icy element on the fridge and on the freezer like my residential fridge.
is in the new 12 volts fridge some deicing mode ?
Looks like a redu Magic Chef fridge.
Camping world of Phoenix tells me there is no such thing as a. 12v compressor fridge therefore mine does not exist and they can’t service it
Great review, any idea what the watt hours of consumption are?
How hard is it to swap out an older styler gas/electric fridge with a newer 12v fridge?
Thanks for the video. Just got one with a 12 volt fridge
That's not Josh….
Does the Rv battery get charged when hooked up to the tow vehicle ?
Have 2 GE 12 volt fridge GPV10FGNBBB in my Keystone Outback 328RL, been used 4 times and the fridges dont cool very well at all…freezers are ice cold
sounds good but one issue i would have …solar needs sunlight and at night there is no charge unless you have hydro …i think propane is still the way to go in some instances .
I was hoping you would go over the fridge temperature controls, #5 is 10v, up to 13v, which is coldest? Manual doesn't explain anything too ME, It talks all about everything but which is coldest setting?
Bought RV second hand and it has the Everchill 11 cubic foot 12 v refrigerator. The fridge is not cold and the freezer is not working. Can I get some advice on how to fix the problem?
Good review. Thanks so much.
If driving down the road and no battery on the camper, does your truck 12 Volta run it through the converter also?
Hey, thanks for doing the review on this. Would like more info please on make, model and dimensions. Could you provide that? Thanks.
what's the brand on that 12v fridge?
Series group 27 batteries
Seems like this would have less components then the absorption fridges, less maintenance.
Planning on replacing our RV fridge and really interested in the 12v technology.
That was a test of nothing more than the power supply at the park where you stayed
You can try doing one of the DC refrigerator DC supply da
I dry camp exclusively in the shade and on cloudy days, solar doesn't keep up, four hours max on battery. Back to three way.
Is this still available for purchase?
How is it possible to consider reviewing a fridge without using a thermometer?
Can not get mine to get cold. 60 degrees only lower and 40 upper.
We have a 12 volt 8 cubic ft frig with solar. It has been running constantly for the last 9 hours. The food and frig are cold. Any suggestions??
You made a nice video we have a Wildwood travel trailer and our refrigerator recently went out on us we was going to get it repaired then we decided to upgrade the refrigerator to a newer model and our choice was RecPro RV Refrigerator Stainless Steel | 10.7 Cubic Feet
What’s the current draw on one of these fridges?
We have the 12v Fridge. if you turn off the battery power. Then you switch the battery back on, the Fridge turns on also ! Not a major problem, but you need to be aware ! Our Trailer does have the Solar package which will keep the battery fully charged ! Our only beef is……try to adjust the shelves, I found out, you need to remove the door, what a load of crap ! !
Nice video how big of a solar panel do you need to keep the battery charged to run the fridge thanks
Aaron, great review! I live in the Central Valley of california and I am in the process of rebuilding a 1987 Fireball Travel Trailer.
I actually just got off the phone with your service department asking them about 12 volt refrigerators and the requirements thereof. The guy I spoke with was a GREAT help, unlike the local RV dealerships here in the greater Modesto area.
Thank You ever so much for your time!
YOU GUYS ROCK!
So your video is the only one I've found related to my specific fridge. JUST got my TT last month, going out Friday for its first trip. I have a 110 home hookup and camper has been plugged up for at least a week. The fridge is cool but not cold and at times the temp setting flashes. Turn it off, and it stops flashing when reset. Any ideas? You can feel the air in the freezer but it's not super cold. Compressor sounds ok like it's kicking on when you shut the fridge door.
But if you are dry camping and don't have solar or generator etc, how long will the battery last? Will it even make it through a weekend ?
When you aren't camping and you have the solar package and 12v electric refrigerator do you leave the disconnect on? Or off? Or do to take the battery out and put it on a charger?
Hopefully, you still monitor/respond to comments on older videos. Is there any significant difference in noise from a 12v compressor fridge vs a propane/electric fridge? Since it has an "active" compressor, is there any significant compressor noise (in the middle of the night, for example). In small trailers, even small noises can be very noticeable. Thanks for the info.
When will coachmen(apex) come with 12v refrigerators?
Can a rv be upgraded or swapped out to a 12 volt fridge fairly easily?
What is the brand and model number of this fridge?
If this is a review…I must have missed something🤔Like….
What is it's draw…is it a Dan Foss compressor? What's the warranty period? Must it sit perfectly level to operate? Does it require heat venting if boxed in cabinet? What is the compressors life expectency?
C'mon man…anyone can plug a fridge in and determine if it is cold or not🙄
Will the solar charge the batteries while driving to you campsite with the fridge on?
I liked this video. Two questions: 1. Do you have any additional/updated info on power consumption and recommendations on minimum solar wattage needed to run the fridge, a few lights, water pump, ect. and keep up with demand, on average? 2: I noticed there were no cooling fins inside the back of the fridge. Can you comment on condensation and icing of this DC Vs. AC/propane units?
