Just be careful about the weight of the items you store under the couch. Overloading the motor on the slide can cause it to wear out prematurely.

Hey guys I saw you do the refrigerator thing and what I did to my 1980 Winnebago as I have a dometic refrigerator a 7 cubic foot and it is over 10 years old and I got it to -6 degrees in the freezer and and the refrigerator at 34 degrees because of what I did on the outside walls was I used 1 inch sheets a phone and put it on both sides of the fridge on the outside in the cabinets put the foam board in on the inside towards the fridge and it never really got hot and yes I do have fans, and if you take the outside cover and real small holes in the vents and on the inside of it put a bug screen in it, and blew it out every now and again, and let me know if you got this okay have fun travels don't forget to wash your hands.

Yes, keep the fan outside. With the sun baking the refrigerator how about keeping the cover on so the sun doesn't have direct contact with the mechanisms?

We keep a small basket in the fridge with mayo, mustard, cold cuts, pickles, cheese, in it, so I can just grab it to make sandwiches without keeping the fridge open very long to get everything I need out. I found that one of my cookie sheets ( I was about to put it in our estate sale when we sold all our stuff) fit exactly on the floor of my oven without covering the vents. It is the double metal sheet with about 1/4 inch of air in the middle. I bake loaves of bread without difficulty, which can be a real challenge. The cookie sheets are much cheaper than a stone, and you don't have to worry about breaking it. Also convenient if you actually make cookies.

I'm moving to Florida in my camper that I'm currently doing renovations on within the next 2 months if we can get rid of this Corona! Hope you guys are doing well.
My daughter lives there with her mom now in Port St Lucie. There's a lot of places around there but I've never been to any of the places.
Where would you guys recommend? I'm a 34yo veteran but I don't drink or party. Very laid back respectful veteran who's only concern is to be a good dad. Would really love to find a place or several places to live full time/circulate the places. Whatever is possible lol. I'm new to this!

I use it on my 1979 trailer. You gotta keep the coils cool. Your reefer is in a slide out….hence the worst place for a refer. Many many refers in rvs in a slide have had issues with not cooling
Enough. The problem is no roof vent.
Your best bet is get a couple computer fans and mount them on the back of the refer. Put 3 fans on the top vent and have them suck the air out of the compartment. Have 2 fans blowing into the compartment on the bottom.

Hi One more frig hack. Slide has to vents for your frig. Mount 2 fans at the top vent and they will suck the air out from the fins. They are the things that cool your frig. The hotter they are the warmer the frig is. Another ideal is you can get rv fans to mount to the fins on the inside of your frig. you won't need to defrost frig and they will run off your 12 volt power supply. both mods will keep your frig down to 34 to 38 degrees even when temperatures are very hot. Keep up with the good videos

I knew ALL those "secrets", in fact our sales rep explained them all to us. Additionally alway keep the black water drain closed because the "debris" may accumulate in a pile and will be a problem to remove. Pour your dishwashing water down the toilet, the black water tank fills slower because most water goes to the gray water, and the soap helps to clean the tank. If you keep your septic hose in the rear square bumper, drill a hole through the bumper and the covers so you can "pin" them in place with a long slender rod through both holes. Your covers will alway stay on while traveling and it keep the hose secure. BTW your regular hose AND your extension hose both may compress to fit in the bumper. The refrigerator fan I also knew but not the access panel. Thanks for that one.

There are kits that you can use or like I did make sure at the top vent the spacing is correct it should be really close to the fence with in a half inch and make sure that it has an even flow for the air to flow out over and out of top van are used metal tape for ducting to kind of control the direction the air flows up through that area keeping it close to the fence and piping and I’m going to be adding another little fan inside The ducting of the refrigerator. Also make sure there’s proper insulation all the way around the refrigerator so that the heat doesn’t transfer into your trailer I also wire tied the drain tube to create a P trap so the water will hold in the tube and no warm air will go up into your refrigerator

It's very ironic that you guys in the video do all this fan venting for your fridge. But, then end up blocking the venting for your TV that needs that area behind it to vent out the warmth. When that happens your TV led lights inside it overheat. That shortens the lifespan of your TV in half. I have a fan behind my tv blowing into the little holes in the back of my TV at all times. You don't have at least one inch along the edges of your TV and fridge to let fresh air into the back areas because of the paneling that seems to be perfectly custom built around your things.

I know this comment is a little late but I have a secret to your secret couch hiding space. On our couch we also use the hiding space you use and our extra hiding space is to pull the back of the couch forward and you have all that space also!!! A true hiding space if you just go a step further.

That will work but I think my method is a lot easier. Just pump air in a window with an electric automotive radiator fan ($28). The air has to get out somewhere and that's a big hole where you pulled that vent off. And there is hot air in there.

Check my videos if I didn't explain it clearly here.

I'm sure you paid a pretty penny for the entire rig, you shouldn't have to do all these things to get a working refrigerator.

If you're running a skoolie (homemade RV), you might look at a "super fridge". It's a chest freezer with a home brewers thermostat. Way cheaper to purchase (couple hundred dollars), and maybe 10% the energy usage. Basic physics. There are a couple of videos on YT about how to live with one off grid. This won't work for people that have to have a "normal" kitchen setup, but I don't think too many of those people are living in RVs.

The 55+ rule stopped being a problem for us about 15 years ago. I am currently 74 and my bride of 45+ years is also well above the 55 mark. And don't laugh, you will see that it takes no time at all to pass that 55 marks. Enjoy.

Another RV refrigerator hack I've yet to see mentioned, I freeze as much of my meat as possible then a day or two before I'm going barbecue or cook them, I take out a steak or hamburger and put it in the refrigerator to help the refrigerator cool better as it thaws. I also have several ice packs approximately 5 by 5 by 2 in. thick that I freeze during the night and put into the refrigerator during the day to help the refrigerator as I do a lot of dry camping.

From SURPRISE, AZ – I wonder if they make an aftermarket screened refrigerator panel to put on while you’re camping? That would solve the “ugly” problem and resolve the airflow issue. Might even be easy to make. Great tips.

Thanks for the Freg cooling. For you who don't care for the water and tv connectors, I put a brass 45 on my camper water connector and then put a male brass quick connector on that. The female brass connector I attached to my main water hose with the brass pressure regulator on the other end. Just a snap to connect water.
I also put quick connects on my cable line so no scraps when attaching that.
I bought the brass connectors from ACE and the cable ends from Walmart.
Has made the last 15 years of camping easier.
