The Boulder Canyon Trail met all our expectations and was a gorgeous 5 mile in and out trail. Beautiful views greet you at both the beginning and the end. The trail head is just off of glorious Canyon Lake, and the end features an incredible lookout over Boulder Canyon.
The trail continues another 0.85 miles down to the creek running through the canyon to extend the trail to 6.7 miles in and out total. We would have loved to continue down to the creek for an in-the-valley perspective, but the sun was setting fast and night caught us a full mile before we returned to the trail head! Check it all out in the video below!

  • Im getting around to watching all of your videos while Im stuck overseas, so I know these are old video comments but do you carry snake bite first aid with you on your hikes?

  • Wow, the music is just as good as the views! Whoever those musicians are, I bet they're gonna be happy their music was used on such great footage.

  • Absolutely Amazing video footage, great videography and editing skills!!!

  • W
Great video, was wondering what software do you use to edit your videos?

  • I am curious, were either of you Scouts as youth? I get a Scout Vibe like Venturing from you two.

  • The spire you see in the distance is Weavers Needle, a well known local landmark.

  • Long trip across town! Gila. . Heelaa G and J are H sound in Spanish. I know in Hoosier they are Geela 😉

  • Awesome to see your drone back in action. Great music choice too. 🙂
Hoping I can cross paths with you when you are in the PNW this summer.

  • We've spent a lot of time around that area though we have not hiked the Boulder Canyon Trail. Keeping that in mind for the next trip. If you have any interest in museums in the Phoenix area, I highly recommend the Heard Museum and the Musical Instrument museum. While that sounds kind of corny, there are instruments from all over the world, including the piano that John Lennon used to write "Imagine" and John Denver's guitar.

  • You're gonna wonder how you ever lived without those headlamps. Great video!

  • Beautiful views! Sweetie really missed you, she was hugging you like crazy!

  • Its "heela" (gila). Search for a gila monster but they are poisonous !

Love your vids.. Very helpful. Ill try to use your links if i buy stuff for our first trip coming soon!

  • Your drone footage is spectacular! What a beautiful locale! Thanks for the video!

  • Gila is pronounced Hila. Your hike looked fun and gorgeous, lived in this area my whole life and have never been to the hiking area. We just drive through. Never heard of Boulder Canyon. Hmm a new discovery perhaps? I think your Goober missed you while you were gone.

  • Great as usual. Love Sweetie…she missed you, probably afraid for you!

  • Beautiful scenery and hike! Thanks for taking us along… Definitely going on our list.

  • Such great views! And Sweetie was so happy to you see you two at the end- that was so sweet!

  • You should be getting Petzl Zipka headlamps with petzl core rechargeable battery.

  • I love the Superstitions. I always come into them from Apache Junction and that drive getting in is a feast for the eyes. The mirror lakes, show capped mountains, and the winding roads give access to many many hikes that are just wonderful. I am glad you enjoyed it as well!!

  • “Ahhh, I miss you so muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch!” Sweetie says (wet tongue 👅 swipe 😅)…Beautiful hike!!!

  • What kind of backpack is that? It fits your cat so well but I haven't found any reference to it on your channel yet

  • Awesome !!  Yeah Careful with the Rattlers — they are very active this time of the year..

  • Beautiful scenery, drone shots are the best! I love when Sweetie is in your vlogs, she's such a wonderful dog!!

  • I grew up with that in my back yard, but the valley started to get to busy for me so now I'm in show low AZ. Which you should check out. It does get busy here to in the summer because everyone from PHX come up to escape the heat. But it's in the pines and lots of lakes and rivers. Almost GILA is pronounced HE-LA. For future reference.

  • I'm hoping to check out that hike. Can you get any closer to the cube-shaped formation to check it out up close?

  • Great episode. Excellent drone work, I fly the Phantom 4 Pro Plus myself. I can't believe you guys have gone this long without headlamps. I keep one in my truck one in my RZR one next to the door in my camper and one in my emergency bag. I do a lot of night riding the trails in Utah, Colorado, Montana, Wyoming, and Idaho so headlamps are my friend. Maybe I'll run into you guys this year out in Montana I hear that's where you're going to spend part of the summer. Some really nice trails hiking biking ATV whatever in the Cooke City area of the Beartooth mountains. Stay safe, enjoy your travels….. "Wally" my service dog and I are looking forward to your next video.

  • The trail coverage with the drone was excellent and really highlighted the attributes of what a drone can contribute to a video. It was almost as entertaining as Sweetie in the sign off 🙂

  • We were just camping at Roosevelt Lake a couple weeks ago. We did the SR88 over to Apache Trail! Never again! Anyway, great video and we too are looking for higher ground right now… LOL… Love the vid!

  • Okay… …Totally excellent video!
    Awesone place and views!
I laughed so much at the last scene with Sweetie!
Looking forward to the next one… …as usual!
You are doing such a great job.

  • Thanks for explaining the elevation gain on the hike. This is very important information because of my husband has had knee surgery, so it would not be wise for us to attempt this one. It is so nice to at least experience this one vicariously.
