Hi John thanks for great video and easy simple explanation really thanks. From South Africa
Genuine question should you be pulling the battery down below 12v although breafly won't that shorten the life of the battery
Fantastic video, thanks John.
Really great video. Very clear and helpful. I’ve subscribed 👍
that is absolute genius about the voltage conversion conflict. superb. never thought of it that way. thanks. am doing a van conversion and beyond gas for cooking was gonna look into getting a leisure battery / inverter set up but i may dodge the invert since all the equipment i use will really be low voltage I.T. or SELV. cheers john!
wow! first time watching this dude. his video is so simple and clear. a really good one!
Thanks Mate!
Cracking post John! Cheers.
Hi John & Mandy just found your great video, learnt a lot. I have a question, how would you switch from 230 volts on a camp site to using the inverter on the road. Would you need some sort of switching ? to swap supply's from one supply to the other if the inverter supplied the power to the van sockets
Thanks John, great video. Apologies if this is a really dumb question. I understood all the stuff about batteries and connecting BUT I was UNSURE where you run the inverter output to??? What I mean is does the AC created by the inverter get connected to the AC set up the van OR do you have to run a dedicated plug or plugs that are attached to the inverter into the van??? If so will the kit cover these needs? Hope that makes sense? Thanks
Cracking video, just about to get one and this answers all my questions , funny seeing past John hairless lol 😂
Hiya John – hope all is well? I’m looking for a Krieger pure sine wave inverter but can’t find one at all. Please can you help as I’m confused? Thanks.
Hi John
We want to join 2 x 115 ah batteries and wondered what size cable we would need?
We watch you all the time but struggle technically and would appreciate any advice you can give ( in simple words for us)
I appreciate you may not be able to offer advice especially at this part of you life and I apologise for intruding. Keep up all the good work. Love and kisses to you and Mandy xx
Informative video John – many thanks 😊
That was a GREAT analogy about the inverter re: getting the milk. Great video too.
Great video, new to this.going to the blog next.
why not use a solenoid between the batteries? I have seen this option to ensure that only one battery is sacrificed. Thanks you and nice posts
Thank you John I really enjoyed watching this and learnt a lot from it. I particularly found it helpful what you were saying about using 12v adapter where possible as opposed to an inverter. I’m just about to make my first homemade Solar panels and found your video whilst researching for that. Now subscribed. Keep up the great work.
Great video
Thank you
Does this connection apply to two batteries in a boat
Thanjs
Where’s the link to this please John? I can only see a 1500 w version on Amazon.
Very good explanation of the installation. I especially liked the battery wiring explanation.
Super helpful, thank you!
After i see this video and see its working with coffee machine.. I bought this too.. But now i bought delonghi dolce gusto mini one and its not working.. Why yours its working??
Great and informative video. I am a newbie and have a (perhaps silly) question, if I use a 2000 W converter in my Peugeot Traveller and have the engine running while I brew a coffee or use the Microwave, do I damage the battery or can it cope with the loads for a short periode of time?
thank you very much 🙂
THANK YOU John. I was no good at maths at school. I'm listening to you and I KNOW that you are explaining well but my brain refuses to STILL understand. I'm sorry! I need a coffee and another rest before listening to your next video! ☺
I’ve watch it again and again and now realise you are right sorry massive brain fart 💨 great vid thanks for the help 👍🏼🏴
I am so grateful to have found your channel. This explanation was so easy to understand. Very informative and has helped me a lot in making choices for my power needs.
So can you use an inverter while the engine is ticking over or your driving for say wild camping?
wonderfully explained
stupid question John….. considering adding an extra leisure battery do you a video on fitting them
Hi John and Mandy…what size inline fuse holder do you use. I have a 2000w pure sine wave Carrybatt inverter. I am charging ebike batteries.
Great vid!, you’ve just saved me a bomb!…. 12v here we go!!
If I am on Land Hook up 230v do I need this circuit separate from the Inverter 230v Circuit or is there a change over switch, excuse my ignorance as new to all of this.
Regards Steve B
Thanks for the video, didn’t have an inverter in the last van, but planning on one in the next one. Tragic about the coffee! 😉 ☕️
Hi, we had a problem with the camper, overnight without electricity, the next morning, the vehicle battery was 11.4 volts and we had to call out an emergency van to jump start us.
If we had had jump leads, could we have temporarily connected to the vehicle battery to start the engine?
Great video. How do you supply power from the inverter to another 240v plug in your build somewhere else. Like the CBE plug sockets?
Hi there very well explained and helpful video. I have the same brand inverter but its 1500w. I have a question does the inverter get damaged if stays under no load? Or is there a minimum load that it needs to be on the inverter.
My electrician installed the inverter and said do not switch it on if is under no load. Is it a problem if its switched on and there is a small load lets say around 150w. Thanks for the video looking forward for your answer 🙂
Can it be an electric source to support a vending machine of voltage/frequency: 100/220v – 50/60hz. If so, how long it will last if the 12v leisure battery is fully charged?
Hi John, Thanks for the film, it was great by the way. I'm a little confused as I think you mention that pure sine wave is the better way to go & that's the way you went. Looking at the product it seems to suggest that it isn't a pure sine wave inverter?
Lol that invertor fan reminds me so much of winter time in my van when the heating is on it's like a flipping wind tunnel in there.
Great tips, thanks.
Don't have much knowledge on this topic so a question for anyone that knows more than me…I've only had space for a 90ah auxiliary battery on my small camper. What size inverter do you recommend and what size appliances I could connect to that battery/inverter combo?
Good vid. Well explained.
Very informative – great video!
Thank you very much.
Excellent video, clear instructions, well narrated, all the information in an understandable format. Thank you.
