How to dewinterize your RV and sanitize your water system

In this video I will show you how to dewinterize and sanitize your water system in your RV. Easily get your RV ready to go camping. This is a general guide that should help you out with the basics of how to do this task properly but may not exactly pertain to your individual RV brand. I dewinterize a Northwood MFG Nash 25C RV trailer in this video. Also in the video is basic information on how to get your propane system primed and first startup of your propane appliances with some tips. Please leave any questions in the comments.

** Warning ** Do not leave your RV at any time during the dewinterizing process. You never know if you have developed a leak over the winter months. You need to be present to turn off waterpump/water if a leak develops to avoid damaging your RV.

  • skip the bleach (its toxic anyway) and strictly use vinegar. Why anyone would want to use bleach in their household is beyond me. Stuff is very poisonous and to put it in your water system doesnt seem bright.

  • I preview this each spring since it is easy to get complacent. Thank you for this, it is very well done!

  • never use vinegar to neutralize bleach ( or any acidic ) the potential of a nasty chemical reaction is too great

  • Great video. Best dewinterizing video on YouTube. Thanks.

  • Well done, thank you for creating this video. Very helpful. 🙂

  • Very very informative video. Thank you!! New to this and you helped a lot more than the dealership.

  • Newbie female rv owner and you've already helped me with several issues! You are a great instructor!! Thank you so very much!

  • Thank you for the video!
I have a tankless hot water heater in mine. I imagine since there isnt a tank that I wont have anything to drain out of it, right?

  • Newbie rv. er, your video was super easy to follow. Big relief to know we have safe water. Thanks much

  • When you did the vinegar part did you run it through all faucets?

  • Thanks for such a well done and easy to understand video. You have been more helpful than anything I've read or seen after 8 years of travel trailer ownership.

  • Thanks for such a thorough and informative video! First time de-winterizing… I'm curious though why you don't have to turn on the pump and run the vinegar solution through the lines (vinegar was just fill tank, dump tank at 15:28 or so), the way you did with the bleach solution. Wouldn't there still be bleachyness in the lines if you don't?

  • Another spring of f watching this video. Year after year! Thanks homie!

  • Great video! I use a cleaned-out wine bottle to add 2 cups of chlorine to sanitize the system. It has a longer neck and easier to fill the tank. They are always on hand!

  • I watch your video every spring to remind me how to dewinterize my trailer. Thanks for taking the time to create it. It's very well done.

  • Here it is March 2020, some 4 years after you made this very informative video, and it still holds as a great tool to use to de-winterize your RV Trailer. My Sweetheart and I are newbies and this is the very first time for us to de-winterize our trailer and we really appreciate the great work you did in making this video. Very easy and helpful shots during your presentation. Thanks a lot, amped79.

  • This was a wonderful video until you got to neutralizing bleach. YOU'RE AN IDIOT. Mixing bleach with an acid such as vinegar creates chlorine gas, a toxic chemical that can be deadly at high levels.

  • I tough is was not recommended to drive with a full fresh water tank???
