  • Great tutorial! My fresh water tank never drains completely. Should I put antifreeze in there for insurance or will it be okay with 1 to 2 inches of standing water?

  • Thanks so much for a well done video with no nonsense or blah-blah-blah! It had everything we needed to know and didn't waste our time just talking. My time is important too so I appreciated that. Very direct and to the point as well as good video so we could pretty much see everything that you were showing. Will revisit again next year I am sure! Thanks again!

  • Why can I not just put antifreeze in the clean water tank, and pump it through the whole system?

  • I have been using this video to winterize my RV for 3 years straight. Thanks for the tutorial.

  • Good video what about the low point drains do you not have to drain those ?

  • Pete, great video. So how do we know that there isn't water left in the fresh water supply line coming from the holding tank to the pump? My pump is located about 8 feet from the FW tank. Is it set up to have gravity drain the water??

  • I just went through the process of all the antifreeze. Everything works great up to the point of the city water check. When I push the button only a little bit of water came out, no antifreeze came out. Am I protected or no?

  • This is kind of a dumb question, but if you've drained everything, why does water still come out when you are pumping antifreeze through the system? Every time he turned on a faucet, water came out first. Does the water need to be hooked up during winterizing?

  • Randy your super awesome, best RV winterizing instructional video I've seen. For my SHURflo water pump, I picked up a 1/2 female elbow P/N UC532LFA from Home Depot, connected it to some vinyl tubing, and it worked great, it took almost the 2 gal of antifreeze, the rest I just poured down the traps.

  • Should low point drains be opened first?

  • Thanks again for great info always, Randy. I know how to winterize my RV, but I watch this every fall before undergoing the process- just as a reminder.

  • what happens to the water in antifreeze that goes through the system and down the drain do you need to empty all that out as part of the winterization or should it be draining as you doing

  • Great video guys, really well done and professional.

  • Just curious, you first drained all the water out of the RV, so why do I see clear water coming out of the faucet just before you see the anti-freeze? Where is this water coming from?

  • Hi can i just emty My watertank or will it still damage my tank ???

  • I have a question. Once you have empties the water heater and replaced the anode rod, do you turn the water heater ignition system back "On" or should it remain in the 'Off" position until the next time the unit is used? Really great video!

  • Is there anything special for the waste water tanks other than emptying and a good flush of the black water tank? I suspect that not all of the waste water is dumped.

  • I just wanted to mention the low point drains. There is a cold & hot water valve located somewhere on the floor or sub floor. You should open both valves and drain them. When I winterize I drain the hot water tank first, then I open the low point drains, then open all the faucets. I find doing this saves some the antifreeze. I'm not sure if every RV has the low point drains, But it's well worth looking into. Under my sink is a Culligan water filter. I remove my water filter (if it still has some use on it) and I replace it with a plastic bottle of water. This is to take up some space so I use less antifreeze. Once I pump the antifreeze through every water line in the rv, I remove the water filter housing and remove the bottle of water. It may sound a bit much to do it this way, but everyone has their own ideas… I live in Oklahoma, and at times we do have some freezing weather, and I have not had one line to freeze yet. Anyway, My point here was, Check for the low point water line valves, and drain those as well… Oh!  And if you have a washer in your rv, drain those water lines as well…… Happy RV'ing Everyone

  • Why can't I pour antifreeze in the fresh water tank, instead of using a water pump conversion kit?

  • Hi – how do you know how much anti freeze to run through the system.  Once you see pink everywhere do you remove the items from the water pump (the antifreeze hose used to pump the anti freeze to the pume)?

  • Hi. When you are done emptying the water heater tank outside do you put the plastic cap back on before going inside and putting antifreeze in the water pump.
