LAUNDRY DAY: Pro Tips for RV NEWBIES in Class B RV Winnebago Travato. Wash Travato cab rug tip.

Published 14-Jul-20

Part of RV lifestyle is perhaps rethinking laundry day. Here is how I do my laundry in a Class B RV campervan in a single load for less than $7 in about 60 minutes.

โฐ VIDEO TIME POINTS โฐ
01:07 – Stow laundry bag in cabinet
02:02 – Locate laundromat
03:50 – Stow soap and coins in laundry bag
04:25 – Use a single washer for all clothes, no separation by color
04:50 – Use laundry detergent soap pods
05:14 – Place soap pod into washer drum, not the detergent cup
06:18 – Use available, fast, free WiFi when you are able
09:17 – Roll clothes instead of folding to save storage space
10:26 – Wash your rugs, include the Travato rug in the cab

  • Rubber mats are better than carpet. Just spray em down with a hose every once in a while.

  • Small world after all….you did your laundry where I take big quilts to wash, lol. Couple miles from us.

  • Shout makes Color Catcher dye trapping sheets to keep colors from running when you mix loads.

  • I really appreciate the detailed info! Many YTโ€™s donโ€™t show real life tasks in detail because they think itโ€™s not interesting content.

  • Mountain? I think you're making mountains out of mole hills LOL..

  • Scott, it is so helpful that your videos cover aspects of "real life" in a campervan. Thank you.

  • Tip I learned from back in the day when we didnโ€™t have a washer or dryer. Use those big tables they have to fold (or roll) your clothes as you take them out of the dryer. Theyโ€™ll be warm and less likely to wrinkle. Plus, when you get โ€œhomeโ€ all you have to do is put them away.

  • Love your RV and your video is well done. You are free and get to make your day the way you want it . Wow …..I have got to get out and start living my life. Still pay bills and work full time. Iโ€™m not free. My look into your life makes me realize I have to find a way to start living laundry and all.
Keep on living the life and cheers to clean clothes

  • Just subscribed to your channel. Did the van Paint job wake up your inter-cowboy or did your inner cowboy pick the paint job. Thanks for your sharing I really appreciate it and have learned from them

  • Since you wash everything in one load, you might buy those color catcher, you just toss them in washer and dryers. They work great.

  • Nice video on laundry. I usually wash rugs in washer and I use a hose to them or just Shane them it depends how dirty they get.

  • I use the medicine bottles my dad gets for my roll of quarters. Not only are the lids sturdy but the tubes are easy to store.

  • Hi Scott
Do use a VPN for security on public wifi? Thanks so much. Great videos.

  • I am way to O.C.D. About my laundry. Canโ€™t stand wrinkle clothes…lol. I have to do them straight out of dryer.
I wash my whites first, then using same washer I wash colors. Learned that from ruining my cloths by washing colors first as a newbie. People before was bleach happy therefore my color clothes got faded. Yikes! Like I said Iโ€™m way too picky. ๐Ÿ˜‚ And use a V.P.N. On any WiFi for safe internet. Big front loader are fantastic for rugs. And I prefer them for my clothes. Great video๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘.

  • I tend to not dry my clothes, because a lot of lint comes off the clothes and that's starting to wear down the clothes. I found out that closed last a lot longer if you just drip drying them in the RV put them on hangers and let them dry naturally and the clothes will last a lot longer. Also I use it product you can spray on your cuz we're almost works like an iron. When you get your close put on an iron, you just spray this phone on the clothes I do it outside the rig, and then let it dry inside and it almost looks like the clothes are nicely pressed and starched. I've never used a laundry day, I just kind of go during the week and if I run across the laundromat I'll pull over and stop. Or maybe I need that spend some time in a certain city that day, and I'll get the laundry done at the same time so it's not spread out on a 7 or 14-day interval, it's just when the best time presents itself. I usually stay with the clothes just so they won't get stolen in the laundromat. Also I found out with white clothes, sometimes they will get iron stains on them, because some of these laundromats I'm not hooked up to City Water they're running directly from well water which can be high in iron and particulates and they will stain some close especially whites. Most of the clothes I use for going RV or either prints, plaids, Paisley's and dark clothes that don't show dirt r iron deposits from water.

  • When did you change the color and the graphic to your van? Was there a video on the changes? Looks sharp

  • Good video Scott. So what do you do with your shirts or other clothes, once youโ€™ve worn them? Do they go straight into the laundry bag? I usually wear shirts multiple days. Or do you just roll them up again if youโ€™re not going to wash them?

  • Thanks for this valuable information. You actually make this fact of life look fun.

  • Thanks for sharing all the tips. We are new to traveling in a Winnebago Boldt.

  • I've been using SpeedSmart… it isn't any better or worse, I just like the interface!
I'm assuming all of these speed test apps are the same… but you know what they say when you assume!!
    Be seeing you!

  • No sorting for color necessary here. I quit buying whites years ago, so all clothing goes in together. Clothes are dried on delicate (I dislike shrinkage), Bedding and towels separate and dried on hot.

  • How do you keep your campsite while you take the RV out for errands or local trips?

  • Thanks for another fun video! I know you were pondering selling your unit and getting something else…..can you do a video on what to look for in a Used Class B, what to avoid, and whether to buy used at all? A lot of your fans cannot afford a new RV…..

  • Hey Scott , great vid. I saw a cool vid on a portable washer that was two pieces so that it was compact. And it also had a high speed spin dry which basically would dry your clothes. You might only had to hang dry your jeans or heavier fabrics. Definitely consider if you plan to do any long term boondocking. Also, if you were 6โ€™3โ€ tall or taller would you still have gotten the Travato?
