Newbie No Build Van Build DIY Minivan Camper Conversion Tour

Van tour begins at 1:21

This is my first attempt at a no-build van build camper conversion in my 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan minivan.

One of the top 10 items you need before going camping or hitting the road is a really, really good flashlight. Here’s the one I’m using:

  • I like the fact that your solar is very stealthy I never thought about that cuz I have two of those racks across my van too but I was thinking about doing the portable because the one thing is you can park under the shade and stick the solar panels outside to reach the Sun I never understood sitting in the sun to get the solar so that then you have to come back with the heat of the car to get cooler it doesn't make sense to me

  • You came into my feed probably cuz I watch a lot of Bob Wells videos and I haven't started yet I probably will be part-time hopefully camping cuz I still have to work even though I'm well past retirement age do to the whole shutdown virus thing ruining my retirement tables. So what was going to be a luxury retirement is now going to be a have to I don't want to spend all my money on apartment ever renting a room with roommates. I have a Honda 2003 minivan which will do but I can't figure out how I'm going to do the bed or the cop cuz I have bad knees my butt has to be at the same level or higher than my knees to be able to get up and down and out even at home if I lay down on the couch I can't get up. So I have to figure that out

  • I am so impressed! What a wonderful van house! I love your droopy table, it adds character!

  • good learn as you go. good for you.

  • The really neat van builds I always see add far too much weight to the vehicle much better to prolong the life of the engine and transmission with a lightweight build like this.

  • Awesome build! I wish I could have a cot, but the ceiling of my Hyundai Santa Fe sport is too low and wouldn't provide breathing space. Instead, I bought a long, 5/8" shelving board to even-out the bumps when the seats are laid down, then put a 3" self-inflating mattress pad with another 3" cushion on top.
Thank you for a great video and ideas we can put to practical use.

  • Hope you went well with the challenges of Covid.
Thank you for clearly showing your toilet setup.

  • I love that table so much and I'm going to tell you why… Because you made it !โค๏ธ And it's so perfect I love it

  • This is awesome info! I have Dodge van too. Thanks for all the recommendations very helpful.

  • I like it simple and functional. I think that those over builds are too complex and bound to fail, creating unnecessary maintenance.

  • Awesome "no build" build. Thanks for reminding me it's possible. Feeling encouraged!

  • No build is the best build. As someone growing more and more utilitarian by the day, this is perfect. Thanks for sharing.

  • I love your van build!! Very simple, just the things you really need. This is what I want!

  • I love what you have done with your van. It looks like the perfect set up for me. Only trouble is I cant drive! I can dream tho. Happy travels and stay safe x

  • Good for you. Iโ€™m also starting on this new adventure Judy. I canโ€™t wait. So excited for you. Way to go. Have fun

  • I wish there would be different women one on one you could get in touch with that you could follow "at first only" to help you get started on traveling and show you were and how to boondock. Also get over the fear of traveling at first especially being alone. The problem most of us just dont know where in the world to start out to go and to help get over the fear.
