Sorry, but technically speaking, 4k does not adequately describe the actual resolution. It's a very good marketing term because it's easy to remember. The true resolution of an image is determined by the # of horizontal lines, or pixels or rows, that govern an image's quality. In the case of "4k", (hard to use that term,) the resolution is determined by the 2160 horizontal rows. Why does it matter? The digital compression of the image is governed – or limited – by the number of horizontal rows. So, if I had 7,680 (8k – ugh) of vertical "columns", and 2,160 horizontal rows, to the naked eye it would not look any better than if I was viewing an image at 3,840 columns (4k) x 2,160 rows. Sadly, I have a PhD in engineering, so please excuse the pomposity and the unnecessary levels of tech confusion. PS: I really do love your videos and their extensive attention to detail.

Thank you for the in depth video on your camera gear Marc. We have had our YouTube channel for about a year now, but really got serious about it just a few months ago. We are having an issue with a clicking noise and wind noise with our cheap Comica mic and need to look at upgrading. Thank you for the advise and input.

Do you have any experience / opinions on the Canon M6 Mk II or the current GoPro units? I'm pretty set on my DSLRs (1Div, 7Dii, 5Dii) for stills, but looking to add better video capture capabilities. A Session5 is already in the shopping cart. Mahalo!

Loved this video on explanation of cameras. I will watch again and again of course because that is how I learn but you were AWESOME!!! Not sure how this video popped up but I'm glade because I have been wondering these tips. I have a Canon camera but don't know all the features. Will learn and I have picked up noticing wind noise in the background on other people's videos. So having a Mic and "dead cat" cover would be ideal.

Can you replace the go pro hero audio and use the ZOOM H4N setup at the same time while you film with the go pro or do you just recommend the session 5 over that idea?

I am addicted to your channel and I’ve only been watching for about a few weeks. Either yourself or your wife commented back on my first comment on your channel and welcomed me which in tune get me coming back.

I just purchased your YouTube course yesterday and I’ve learned so much that I didn’t know about YouTube. And just the setting up part; I have another channel that I have uploaded multiple videos called Nashville Aquaponics where I teach people how to convert fish waste into plant nutrients to grow food. Just the first couple of chapters specifically on the setting up a new YouTube section I have learned so much and I’m looking forward to diving into a new chapter every night over the next couple of evenings. You guys are in inspiration, I was telling my wife last night how amazing would it be if we were able to do what you do have a successful YouTube channel, travel the world and then someday meet up until you guys face-to-face that you were the ones who sparked the movement in our lives today and we are just getting started in the RV world. We have been in our RV One month now living full-time working full-time with hopes will get to travel more but we are grateful for you guys and love all your videos and content, it’s why I join your YouTube channel.

Thank you Marc – great overview of everything. Things have sure changed since the silent 16mm days. It's going to take me a while to become familiar with everything.

This is the second time in 6 months I have watched this video, and I learn more each time I watch. You are a real pro! I can see why your channel has grown to over 200k subscribers. I will be purchasing your "how to start a YouTube channel" video soon. Thank you again for taking the time to help us with our camera/video purchases and uses. Tony

Thanks, Marc. I really enjoy your channel. I'm thinking about taking your YouTube course. I was wondering if you were learning how to youtube at the same time you were learning how to full-time RV. I noticed that you say to jump in, get started, do what you can now, stuff like that. So I was wondering if you did both of these at the same time. Did you immerse yourself in full time RV and take the plunge into YouTube at the same time, learning both as you went? Or did you already have some experience under your belt with video.

As 360 cameras become better an more affordable, have you looked into adding one of these to your quiver? I recently started using an Insta360 OneX and am very impressed with what it can do. I think it would be a game changer for a lot of your shots.

Hi Marc -Could you talk a little bit about how you chose the 6D Mk II? What other bodies did you look into? I bought a 6D Mk II too about a year ago to get into a full frame DSLR (for low light photography) and was excited to hear that you have one as well. I've been second guessing myself since I have yet to see a positive 'professional' review of the camera. They're usually comparing it to the 5D Mk III and railing on the locations of the auto-focus points and it not shooting in 4K. I'd be interested in your thoughts on this other than the 4K stuff which I think you explained well in this video. Anyway, my wife and I are currently binge watching all your videos and loving them. Keep up the great work!
