WOW! Great information. Thank You.
Will a Da and wool pad remove oxidation?
Hi there! What product(s) would you recommend for removing the yellowing that occurs on fiberglass? I removed and replaced some of the decals on our coach and found the gel coat underneath was bright white while the surround areas were yellow. p.s. I had a RV detail shop put “Fiberglass sealer” on the coach about 2 years ago and it now looks horrible. Patchy and dull where it’s starting to wear off. Don’t think that’s the cause of the yellowing as I contacted the manufacturer who said their product doesn’t discolor.
Is that the same process as yellowing
I have a Keystone Bullet trailer camper and the front under the clear coat is clouding up (Blushing ) how do I fix it ?
Awww
We cant live without our precious pooches.
Don’t know if you will see this or not cause you made this video 4 yrs ago but I have been eating a lot of camper restoration videos and yours sure looks a whole lot simplier than the others. Thanks a lot. Will be checking out your other videos for any other ideas you may have. Thanks again.
As the guy who designed that DeWalt; the speed for cutting should be 600-800 rpm max (unless your pad is perfectly balanced and in a large area)
Turtle wax is, um… Not great. Compound is WAY more than just a "liquid to lubricate the pad"
I love your vid for how it was done but as far as the how-to part, I'll just say, many ways to skin a cat.
I just bought an old motorhome with aluminum frame and is quite yellow. Would this method help? I would really like to keep the old paint and just brighten it if possible
Would this be something I should do before painting the exterior of my motor home? There are lots of pock marks also. What could I use to fill them for smooth surface again?
russ, i wish i woulda seen your video before!!! i bought 3m super duty compound, and a buffer, and a wool pad…
I'm headed outside now to attempt to remove the oxidation from my rv… I'll take a before and after pic. wish me luck!!! I'm gunna meed it!!!
(I'm jackie the stalkers friend @ quail run rv park in quartzsite, az)
Russ looks real good!!!!
Looking good. Nice work. Just a tip for those viewing. Just do not let it over heat… keep moving slowly like he is… never Sit in one spot or hit edges dry…
At 5
;50, you say you will polish it in a few days, but didn't the Turtle Wax suffice?
What sealer do you use to prevent further oxidation
I was told that the framing around the slides are not a painted surface. How do I clean and restore them. They are faded badly. love your tips
Mine was so neglected I had a wet sand and then buff it, talk about a pain in the ass
Do you have any videos of applying a polish to a gelcoat rv?
EXCELLENT DEIVERY ! I LIKE YOUR STYLE !!
Now I will tell you how to remove oxidation.
Tsp or trisodium phosphate. Or Comet.
And a broom made for scrubbing floors.
It removes the top layer of paint or as you call it. Oxidation.
Russ, I have a big Fifthwheel RV and it's looking pretty nasty with the oxidation. I'm regretting getting this RV now because it's to hard to keep it up. My question is when buffing do you have to change out the wool pad or just leave it on until you've removed all the oxidation? Ant info. Or tips that you can give me will be truly appreciated. Thanks. By the way, my Fifthwheel is a 36 foot Titanium made in Canada by Douglas RV. They have been outta business for some years now….
thanks for the tip. i have this same buffer
I have substantial drip stains from the roof on down on my small 15 year old fiberglass RV. I just bought a Dewalt buffer and wonder if I need to do more than a good wash before I get to the buffing.
Thanks Russ for this informative video. Just bought a fibreglass travel trailer myself, and although it's in good shape, it does need a little lovin' like what you just did. This will be more than helpful. Cheers!
gee… wonder what kind of compound was used.
Thank you for sharing your experience in such a no BS way.
With the rite products you can restore the decals.
The Dewalt weighs less then 7 lbs
You sound so enthused; about like me when I need to paint the house. I bet you're sick of doing this. Thanks for the tips and demo.
I love hearing how powerful the dewalt buffer is
Real good video.
What polish would you use on the fiberglass?
If our fiberglass shell is chalky to the touch, and a faded yellow, will this help?
Scoobs good to see ya …scratch, scratch, ✌💖🎼🎶🎵
I am having trouble finding those wool pads you use. Can you suggest a place to purchase them? Thank you
I'm a ZAP man myself. Looks good, Russ. Isn't it funny after you're done, your arms twitch when you try to drink a glass of water. haha
Nice job, Russ.
Cool! I didn't know you had a detailing biz! Meeeee too! I have that exact same buffer! I LOVE my Dewalt. I told Bart as long as I had that buffer we would never go hungry lol. Beautiful job there Pro! I am so happy to see Scooby is feeling a little better. Yayyyy! How old is she? if it's ok to ask..
Breeze looks really shiny now!!! ✴ Good job there Russ. Give my Scoobers a hug from me.
That's something I need to do to my Coach. have you ever used Zepp wet floor polish to detail. They use it a lot in Florida on Boats and RV's. I thought about trying that
