RV AC MicroAir Easy Start How To Install.

Today we are sharing how to install the MicroAir Easy Start on the RV AC. It is a device that drastically reduces the surge of power needed to start the Air Conditioning unit. It makes it possible to start it on a smaller generator or have two 13,500 ac units run on a 30 amp service or make it easier on your Solar Inverter setup when off grid. I hope this helps walk you through setting it up.

  • Excellent tutorial. I’m an electrician so I have all the tools but I work with high voltage. So this video definitely helps when I do mine 👍🏼

  • I pick up my 2022 GD 2600RB monday and this soft starter is the first thing I'm putting on the unit when I get it home haha! I just printed out the schematic and made one off their instructions from another model, and then went… i bet there's a video. Yep. your diagram matches mine lol!

  • I wish you'd come through NWPA, I have a solar system and 2 of the micro starts to install lol But seriously

  • Anyone have experience running a 13.5K AC with East Start and a 2000W generator? I have a Champion 2000W generator (2000W Peak / 1700W Continious).

  • Hi.. looking for an update, please. I know y'all switched rigs, but I think you had this part installed on your old unit, for a decent amount of time so I'm curious if you'd still go with this brand? Amazon doesn't have it, but etrailer does. Were you happy with how it performed over time?

  • Some videos give the impression that the install can be done in 30 minutes, maybe even by the spouse. My rig has an AC/ heat pump and I've spent an hour to get wiring diagram. Then, many people don't understand or have a multimeter to check continuity. Then, you might need to call SoftStart tech support, which is very responsive.

Nevertheless, I went on my roof, took the cover off the AC, took photos of wires and components, and studied the diagrams before I went for final install.

A person should have a moderate level of understanding before they do this. I think this needs to be clear.

  • Jared. Thanks for the awesome video. Made an intimidating install easy.

  • Is this easy start better than the soft start?

  • Does this make the unit a lot quieter?

  • Tried to buy with your Amazon link but it is dead. Just a fyi. Trying to help for the vid. Good job on your vids!!

  • Have any voltage test before and after? Like how reduced the turn-on spike is now

  • For me living in California, only hot places I would be staying at would have full hookups like Laughlin Nevada Koa at the Avi Casino. I’d never boondock in a desert. Most camping boondock spots for me is in the mountains or beach and in the summer they always cool down at night.

  • Jared, Thanks for all your informative videos! I have 2 Coleman AC units on my 40'- 5th whl RV. Using solar with 1300wts / 400amh BB, should I put these on both units? Thoughts?!! Thanks Larry

  • Has anyone run into problems with the Air Conditioner Manufacturer voiding the warranty?

  • You should Never short a capacitor. You should Always discharge it through a low ohm resistor. The law of physics is that you cannot instantaneously change the voltage across a capacitor. When you violate this law. Something has to give, and that something is internal damage. You can short out the capacitor internally by doing this.

  • Curious if this only works on rv style air conditioners or could this be adapted to work with a window unit air conditioner. Planning on putting a small WU in a box truck conversion and I'm worried about the amp draw, especially the surge when the compressor kicks on. Havent seen much info on this idea. For reference im not trying to be able to run a unit solely off generator or shore power. Going for solar charged, deep cycle battery unit then into the AC but I have yet to see a window unit that doesn't surge past 40-50 amps.

  • Once again, another great video and another upgrade that I'm saving and planning to to do on the rig as well. I have read that this can allow the A/C to be used when plugged into a common 15 or 20 amp home outlet. Any thoughts on that? I'm wondering if there is still too much draw to support a 15 or 20 amp outlet and the fire risk too great to safely use?

  • I am installing a 2nd AC on mine and was wondering… do I need to put one of these on both units or would putting it on one be ok?

  • Would it be safe to assume this would also work with a boat AC unit?

  • Why don’t the air conditioner manufacturers just include this feature on brand new units?

  • Got thee of them to do. once I get the Victron back online it has to be done. I have the kits. Thanks

  • What's the difference between the SoftStartRV box and the Microair box ?Which one is better? Both are practically the exact same price of 300 bucks. Thanks 👍

  • What would be the reason to use the easy start over any other capacitor on the market that are $15
