ℹ️ About the episode:
Estes Colorado is known for the Rocky Mountain National Park, hiking and wildlife, but the wildlife is not just in the National Park, it’s everywhere. Elk roam the RV parks, streets and even hang out in front of restaurants. The town of Estes is not as charming as other Colorado towns we’ve visited this season, but still nice. The river that runs alongside Main Street is relaxing to watch with a cup of coffee or wait for a table when eating out. The Estes fairgrounds is also great for all ages and dogs. We ate at Bird and Jim’s (highly recommend) and stayed at Manor RV park, but would likely stay at Spruce Lake RV park next time. Get KYD’s Quick Guide to Estes, CO here.

My wife and I just joined your site. It is very enjoyable and interesting. We just, last month, bought a new travel trailer and have only been able to take two trips so far. We are both a very young 70ish and enjoy getting away bit we are limited in hiking and walking mobility. Do you have any suggestions for us slightly handicapped RVer that want to enjoy the outdoors?

The wife and I have kind of fallen in love with Estes over the last few years. If you can, try to book one of the RV sites at Paradise on the River. Fantastic place. Great owners. Amazing sites right along the river.

Also the issue about dogs eating poop means that they're not getting what they need in their diet. I know this is going out there but its the truth when I say…dogs need to eat raw animal meats and organs lol… this is their natural diet. They come from wolves and thats what wolves eat, right? I really suggest to start researching about it. There are books on it also. There are facebooks groups that are subject to raw feeding as well! You can look into a documentary called "Pet Fooled" and that will give you a lot of information you may not know in this area. We've only been feeding them kibble since the 40s or 50s so its still new compared to how they've been eating raw meat for hundreds of years. The pet food industry honestly could care less how healthy our animals are. Kibble isn't real food whatsoever, its like feeding them junk food. Another way to think about it is its like if we humans were to eat fast food for every day of our lives. When it comes to the canned food, thats hardly real food as well seeing as they mix random animal corpses together and call it food for dogs… it gets real but anyway…
Thank you for the video, it was fun to watch.

Curious, is there a pandemic where you guys are at? No one is wearing a mask except for the local RV repairman. Hmmmm??? I've watched the episodes prior and not seeing any so thought this was filmed a year ago….no wonder this virus is not going away. Love the content, but seems like everyone is still taking too many risks out there IMO.

I really enjoyed this segment, especially since I have spent much time in Rocky Mountain NP. Have camped there in tents many times. My two favorite parts of the park are the hike up to Emerald Lake with it’s magnificent views of Hallet’s peak. My other favorite part of the park is the drive over Trail Ridge Road. Being the highest continuous road in the country (12,183 ft at its peak) I was a bit disappointed to not have seen any coverage of this part of the park, which is the premium experience of Alpine tundra in the lower 48.

Lol, did anyone notice that he's wearing the same shirt in the checklist video that he referenced as this one? It's like the family member you make fun of every year for wearing the same sweater in all the Christmas photos, year after year.

I sadly know the Stanley hotel, not from the Shinning but from Ghost Hunters because they did an Episode there. I believe more than one actually and possibly even a Halloween Special from there.

"You need a reservation for the national park, so I made one." Hmmm…not the typical experience. That campground has been full for months!

I have a home Traeger and I found out if your fire pot has to many pellets in it during start up you’ll get the massive smoke cloud. I usually empty it before start up.

Do you happen to have videos or links on how you handle internet service? We'd like to go more long term in our trailer but I'm wondering about the logistics of the internet. My job allows me to work remotely from anywhere but I have no idea where to start when it comes to RVing and internet. Thank you!

We've been watching your show since we bought our own travel trailer last fall. We happened to be in the same campground in Estes Park as you at the same time. I thought we passed you when walking in town but my girls told me to stop being a fan-girl. When we came back to the campground, we made the u-turn to our spot and there was the airstream and white truck. We were against the river.

Two things: 1) I love "Somewhere in Time." I've always wanted to visit Grand Hotel just because of that movie. 2) Stephen King is kinda my "Obi Wan" … there isn't a book he has put out (or will) that I haven't (or won't) read. But he disagreed heartily with how Kubrick treated the story itself in the movie version of "The Shining." To be fair, it's a FANTASTIC movie — it just doesn't reflect the characters and story arc of the book well in more places than not. The book itself is completely engrossing. Jack isn't wacko when he arrives (as in the movie), but watching him descend into madness is fascinating. I love them both for different reasons, but give me a good scary story any day of the week and I'm happy.

Sat down to watch this episode, grabbed a beer and a few minutes into the show recognized the picnic tables and the elk. We were in the same park along the water. Must have missed you guys by a day in Estes Park… Safe travels, love the channel…
