  • Is there surge proctors for when you plug into your home 20/15 amp?

  • Very good information. We are purchasing our first RV. Diesel Pusher with Generator. But my question is; Where is the best source for purchasing RV supplies? Is there an online source? I doubt that the local RV dealer would be an 'economical' source. 😉

  • Do I need to have 2 surge protectors? You have one for 50 amp, but do you still use the same surge protector if you only have a 30 amp connection, and how do you use it and hook it up? What does your readout on the surge protector indicate when hooked up to 30 amp?

  • Another great video! I am a couple days away from having electrical done for our double RV pad (a spot for our RV and one for guests). When all's complete we will have two full RV hook ups. As an electrician, I recomend always moving up a gauge on electrical extension cords. Be sure the wire is heavy enough to carry the current load! And our new 50 amp surge protector arrives tomorrow to go with our new 37 foot 5th Wheel!

  • So thanks for the info. I had another question about electric hook up.
If I have a 30 amp cord .I also have a 50 amp adapter. Should I hook up to the 50 or 30 amp outlet.thanks.

  • I absolutly hate instructional videos that aren’t straight to the point, but I will say after finishing this one the main thing I took from this video is 1. I need to find a different video as a reference guide the info was excellent but it could have been given in about 5 minutes lol but 2. I was asked many times as a kid “what do you wanna be when you get older” and it’s varied in responses but as a 25 Year old whose Brain is just now fully developed I can absolutely say when I get older I want to be Jerry. So thanks for that Jerry and hope you all the best I’m the future

  • Thank you so much. My question to you is….and, let me see if I can phrase this properly; I have a 50 amp class A RV. I carry both a 50 amp surge protector as well as a 30 amp surge protector. If I want to plug my rig into my home outlet and I step down from 50 amp to 30 amp and subsequently to 15 amp in order to plug into my home, can I (or should I) use one of my surge protectors somewhere inline? Your response to this question will be highly appreciated as I have never plugged into my home before. Thanks again.

  • Excellent job explaining and showing how those adapters work and descriptions of products…thanks

  • Hi Jerry. Forgive me for being confused here, but I was looking at your link above of your rv supply list, and the surge protector listed there is different from the one in this video. So which 50 amp surge protector are you now using or which one have you found to be the better? Thanks so much. I'm new to your site, but it seems very professional, informative, and helpful.

  • do you use a different surge protector for plugging in to 50 amp and 30 amp or can you use the same one on either

  • Great video!! Thank you. Where do I get the lockbox for surge protector?

  • We have 30 amp rv but place we wish go only has 50 amp can we 50 down 30 how

  • Great video Depending where the rv electric panel is in the rv maybe look into having a new electric input connection installed mid point on the rv. There is no code as to where the ac in connection is located only that it is wired correctly so it is compliant with a code supplied electrical connection. I have done alot of electrical on rv and electrical connections at homes for rv. Also on your panel at home for your rv why did your electrician use a small piece of Romex wire to the rv socket and not just shot pipe nipple. Everything else is in conduit just does look good but is legal. Thanks for the video loved it.

  • FYI – 4 digit tumblers are one of the easiest locks to pick…

  • I have a 30 amp camper, if I come to a site with only 50 am power do I need a 50 amp surge protector down to a 30?

  • Howdy. How often have you found a dual 30 AMP pedestal at a destination? Is that common?

  • With the 50 to 15 amp cord do you need surge protection? And if so what do you recommend? Thanks for the post!

  • Hi Friend. I found a gently used 34750 protector. When testing just now the Time Delay When Flashing Light’s did their flashing and green Power On never appeared. Faulty unit or user error?

  • I'm buying my first travel trailer and this video was very helpful. I'm excited to get on the road and I want to be safe. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!

  • I might be missing something and I did go ahead and buy the lock and hasp. However, what is to prevent somebody from simply unplugging from the pedestal as well as the coach and absconding with a $300 power cable?

  • Great video sir. I recently bought my first rv which is a 30 amp. I will definitely make a electrical kit. Where did you get the small aluminum step that was in front of the rv steps?

  • if the campsite only provides a 30 amp and you connect your 50 into 30 amp adapter are you then not using the 50 am surge guard since it wont go into rv parks outlet?

  • Jerry: Wow, 2 days and I’m reaching out to you again. RE: Y-Cable. I have one of these, never been to a site where there were two 30 amp plugs on a single pole. But, I have plugged one in to my 30 amp plug, then used my 30 amp extension cord to an empty next door site for the other leg of the Y-Cable. I still got 30 amp, not 60 so says my energy mgmt system??????? I’m handy but not an electrician. The breakers and GFCs didn’t blow. Someday I’ll figure this one out. Love your videos, keep up the fun work.

  • Your video was very informative and well put together. I am taking delivery on my first 5th wheel in a few weeks and you have answered most all of my concerns about the accessories I may need to operate the electrical hook ups safely.

  • Great info, really enjoyed your video!

  • hey @I Love RV Life – just sying, your groupings got me to subscribe 🙂 good video, moving from a 30a 5th wheel to our new 50a 5th wheel this video was helpful.

  • Our power wouldn’t stay on I didn’t know we needed a surge protector, this helps a lot! Thank you!
