My wife and I are buying are first travel trailer. I found what one we wanted and then doubled the weight to select a tow vehicle. Ended up getting a f250. Figured by doubling it would save me from not getting big enough truck and save my drive train.
Thanks guys, this video was extremely helpful. I can’t wait to start towing and doing so safely.
Which hitch is the best gen-y, weigh safe or bw and why?

Is a F250 ok to tow a 18' cargo trailer? Trailer is full don't know weight
Hey guys! Love your channel. However, anytime people talk about towing a camper or fifth wheel you guys never mention that additional weight associated with camping! Lol the rv/camper can only be close to max if you are hotshotting and leaving it empty otherwise you better have 2,000 lb cushion min. Again, I know very little compared to you guys, I just want to make sure people are buying all the truck they need for their campers. Dangerous business.
When I buy my trailer hitch’s I always buy the ones with the bigger nut
Crossing the chains is the most important advice!
What was the hitch shown on the video
Hi thanks nice video. I have a question I am used to manual from South-Africa pulling big boats with small trucks. Moved to Canada and bought a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder.
It has a O/D button. So when I tow for first time now how do I go abouts? Put it in D and turn O/D off or do I still only pit it in 3 and O/D off. Can anyone help please. Not sure regarding towing with automatic.
someone told me to not tow with overdrive and cruise control. Is this true? I can understand no overdrive due to over heating the trans. But the cruise?
Good job of not smiling when you talked about greasing your balls.
Andre has gotten so much better at English! I remember a few years back he didn’t speak it to well.
Is that Larry the Cable Guy?
Hey Guys! Just curious, a lot of articles I've read and videos of watched say to "Keep %60 of the load in front of the axle on a trailer."
Does this include multi axle trailers? I.E. on a triple or quadruple axle trailer that's 30' long would I still want 60% of the load in front of the first axle (closest to the tow vehicle)? Does it change if the load get's taller?
You guys are awesome. Thanks.
Funny how kids are in the back seat for safety yet the most accidents happen in the back seat 🤔
This video was perfect for where I'm at right now. I've never towed, but a lady in church had a 19ft 1965 Silver Streak that was a perfect project trailer for my wife and I to use now that our kids are growing and going. Now I need to find the right tow vehicle for it. As I said it is nineteen feet long tongue to bumper and seven feet wide. I haven't had it on the scales but the original documentation had a dry weight of 2880lbs and a 400lb tongue weight. We anticipate local camping trips which will take us up mountains grade with 6% but is only 40 minutes away. Also, we like a road trip and will use it to travel cross country. Overall, usage will be a few weekends a year or a two week vacation per year. So midsize, or 1/2 ton? Whatever I buy will be my daily driver also.
What's with the communist flag?
My favorite part was greasing the balls…. Still laughing. Thanks guys.
I want to buy a 7,500 lb trailer, what truck you guys recommend me to go for F150 3.5L V6 or 5.0L V8 as far I know both trucks can haul 11,000 lbs
Do you have a section that helps you match your 5th wheeler to the right truck???
The ford raptor can tow a trailer for 4 horses with gooseneck
I have a cuestion
Was wondering if you guys know what the 2017 Ford Raptor Payload rating is? Having a tough time finding this
B cam audio is out of sync. Be careful next time.
Is full fuel calculated into the truck's max payload or no? I drive a 2010 Ram 1500 with the Hemi and I pull a 25 ft 6100 lb travel trailer. My truck has a max payload of 1500 lbs. Figuring a 10% tongue weight (also is that a safe percentage or should it be higher for bumper pull?) I will have roughly 900 lbs of payload to work with, but I'm curious as to if it's actually less with a full tank or does that include a full tank?
I've never considered tongue weights and payload until I saw this video and it's got me wondering. I do use a weight distributing hitch with sway bars on my travel trailer.
Hey people ! ! ! Shit dedicate i really like this syrsinly disappointed !
I wonder how many people out there are towing whit the wrong eguipment
I have a 2003 Durango with the 5.7L Hemi and it's maximum towing is 7,800lbs. well I wanted to see what it would tow I put a 13,000lbs trailer with payload on it, and it towed it like a champ.
Funny how they missed the most obvious of how to tow a trailer safely….DON'T SPEED
Hey I have a 2015 f-350 with v8 gas I want to tow a skid steer and with the trailer it adds up to 12400 the max by hitch is 12600 should I tow it and I don't wanna do goose neck
@mrtrucktv A question for Mr Truck please. I have a 2015 Stealth 1913 SS, dry weight is 6000lbs. It has a cargo capacity of 4000lbs. This trailer comes with 100 gallon fresh water tank, 40 gallon fuel tank. We normally carry up to 4 dirt bikes, with 4 gear bags, food, water, fuel, 2 5 gallon propane tanks, luggage, bbq in the back of truck, etc. I'm wondering with your vast knowledge and experience if you think were getting close to max payload on this trailer. We are also pulling it with 2010 Tundra 5.7 double cab 6.5' 4×4 bed with tow package. I have not weighed this trailer yet fully loaded. Any guestimates much appreciated.
When Andre was said, audio was late on the video…
I love the trucks.
so what if i get a daihatsu hijet mini truck and add axles and wheel off of a half ton truck including brakes, harder springs, will i be able to tow with a 4 wheel trailer to tow full size cars?
Loved it!!! Such Good Points!!! there's a reason why fulltime RVers are starting to use converted Volvo Semi's when their trailer is over 20k lbs.. its just too much weight for even a 1 ton, when you do it all the time it gets to be not very safe at times, if ur 10-15% from ur max tow, you have room for those windy days and all the extra stuff you have in the backseat, its not just about tongue weight can equal payload
how can I send you guys a video of my hitch, it has a lot of play and I recently didn't feel safe pulling a small trailer because of all the movement. thanks
TFL…I was looking at the 2017 F250 web site before ordering one, they claim you don't need a Weight Distribution Hitch with the new frame (which would be awesome). It sure looks heavy duty compared to the others. I'll be towing 7.5K dry 10K wet.
Just want to be towing safely. What's your thought's on this?
Line up the audio please. Its awful
one other thing, as your unhook your trailer leave the safety chains on till last just to make sure you don't have a run away trailer…
What about greasing the weight distributing bars?
can you make sharp turns with a weight distributing hitch or do you need to take it off first
