ℹ️ About the episode:
In the past several years, we’ve only washed our RV (ourselves) a couple of times. It’s difficult, time-consuming and when using the long poles at a DIY car wash bay, the chances of breaking something is high. We’ve said before, sometimes there is nothing more expensive than trying to save money! Yet, with the truck washes using bristle brushes that can leave scratches or swirls on your painted RV and some Blue Beacon truck washes using acid in their water, which can destroy your clear coat, washing the RV yourself just might be the best option. In this video we wash our 30′ Flying Cloud Airstream and share 5 tips of things to watch our for to help you wash your RV safely and properly.

I know this was for washing the airstream… but how do you remove bugs from the front of the truck? Any preventative measures here?

We have a 40’ fiver. I’m 60 years old so we pay $85 every 4-6 mos. to wash it. They do a great job and I am safely on the ground watching them. Thanks for the info in truck washes adding acid and using stiff brushes. Probably wont go there.

I watched because I wanted to see more of Trish’s legs. Keep up the good work of whatever you do to keep those legs in such great shape.

Look at the bottom of your door, is it cutting into the frame? Take your finger and feel for a grove in medal. 70% of airstreams have this problem and in time you will do real damage. When showing the vacuum I think I could see behind her leg on door.

You can also do a soft wash with a pressure washer. Also be super careful for those who haven't used one before they can be really dangerous and people don't realize the pressure is strong enough to cut through skin.

I can tell you that this is not a good idea in any of the campsites we've looked into. Most specifically state it's not allowed. There's dry wash available so you don't flood out your camping neighbours.

For any vehicle, there are tons of cool devices and methods to help any vehicle look good.
    1. Get a foam canon for the pressure washer. Makes soaping up the vehicle so much easier and it starts cutting the dirt before you ever take a mitt to it.
    2. Look up the 2 bucket method with grit traps in both. Will help minimize scratches in your vehicle.
    3. Use a cordless electric leaf blower to help dry. It gets almost all the water off and less chances of damaging your paint than with compressed air.
    4. If you have the money, ceramic paint protection. Then all you have to do is rinse the vehicle off and all the dirt comes right off as well as paint protection.

Since you have a pressure washer why are you not using a foam cannon? We have cut our wash time in half and using chemical guy products that foam up and pull all the dirt off. You should look into them on Amazon as well. Even their protestants for the inside.

I tell people all the time. Pressure washers are like the gas pedal in your car. You can do 120mph, but you can also do 35mph. Just because the PW is rated to 300psi, you don't have to use it. Keep the nozzle away from the vehicle and it reduces the pressure. JM2C. BTW, after you wash your Airstream, you're going to need to polish it using a good aluminum polish and a slow speed buffer.
