Three days in Las Vegas wore us out! Thankfully though we were able to find a nearby and (supposedly) warm campsite in southern California. We were so exhausted that even the one hundred mile two hour trip from Las Vegas to the Mojave National Preserve was too much.

We got a late start to the day so by the time we got close to our selected campsite the sun had already set. We have a rule to never arrive at our camping are after dark because it makes everything so difficult but we were so close and wanted to be set up so bad we broke that rule.

The following day we were shocked by how cold it was! Turns out the 10-day forecast we looked at was for the cities surrounding the Mojave National Preserve which are at 800 feet elevation and the elevation of our campsite is 4000 feet elevation! I guess you miss details like this when you’re completely and utterly exhausted.
