That’s not a light! This is a light! Nanlite reveals the world’s first bi-colour LED spot light

It’s an absolute monster of a light! If you’re in the market for (yet another) high quality broadcasting LED spotlight you should take a look at Nanlite‘s newly launched Nanlux Evoke 1200B Bi-Color LED spotlight. In this video, Luke Curtis from Nanlite shows DIYP the light and walks us through its features.

So what makes this particular light different from all the others that we;ve seen here at IBC this week? “It’s the world’s first bi-colour COB light that doesn’t have any loss of power,” says Luke.

Luke explains that you used to have to compromise on power when using traditional bi-colour lights. A bi-colour option usually resulted in around 40% less power. But with the Nanlux Evoke 1200B, you no longer have to choose between daylight and bi-colour to retain the power.

This light will be the flagship light in the Nanlux range which is squarely aimed at cinematographers & gaffers in film & TV production. This light is expected to be used on full scale productions such as feature films. “We’re talking about either lighting a huge amount of space,” says Luke, “or times when we need an abundance of available light.”

The light runs two systems inside one. One runs the lower end of the spectrum, the other operates the upper end. With most lights there’s a dip when you swap between the two systems. However, Nanlite have managed to engineer their way past this issue, effectively giving the user no dip in power.

But this light is no light weight, it weighs in at 7.7 kilos. However, it’s actually a lot lighter and more manageable than the traditional lights that used to manage the same things.

The light can also be operated via the Nanlink app which is compatible with the whole range of Nanlite products. The Evoke 1200B is expected to be shipping in late October. Preorder now for $3895.
