In this YouTube video, we show you how to clean your RV Black tank and it’s sensors. We demonstrate how to flush your black water tank the easy way without dragging a hose through the RV and using a black tank cleaning wand. We instead show you a great product we love called the RhinoFLEX Rhino Blaster with Gate Valve. It’s great for flushing your black and gray tanks and it makes maintaining your back and gray tanks and their sensors a breeze too.

We also show you three methods to clean your black tank and it’s sensors too!. The first way is to just flush the tanks, then we show you how to use dishwashing detergent to clean your tank and sensors and finally we show you how to clean your black tank with ice cubes.

You can clean your RV black and gray tanks at home, while you are camping or at a dump station.

So, if you are a full-time RVer or just enjoy the RV lifestyle part-time this video is for you!

And, when you winterize your RV it’s also a perfect time to clean, flush and maintain your black and gray water tanks and sensors.

  • I have to disagree on the toilet paper. I've tested mine and the rv approved brands and mine breaks down faster and is a lot nicer on the bottom. Also it doesn't cost as much as the ones that say rv approved, anything that says rv on it raises the price. I recommend testing your toilet paper before spending way to much money.

  • But PLEASE do not dump Clorox (bleach) infused water into the septic tank as it will kill the good bacteria that stops it smelling.

  • Having the angled outlet facing left is an accident waiting to happen. Always have it facing it to your right, Having it left is asking for it to unlock while you're dumping. Trust me on this.

  • Seventh Generation 100% recycled toilet paper is far better t.p. than any rv toilet paper.

  • Hi there first time I think watching your channel and I noticed that this was made in 2019 so youโ€™re probably aware already however if your sensors are not working right youโ€™ve got struvite buildup itโ€™s a crystal forming thing that builds up on your walls and can cause a lot of have a gift there let go too much now there may be another way to clean it out but in my research using a pressure washer go on the outside of your tank go inside with the little little hose thingy and itโ€™ll knock all that off I have tried other products that remove struvite or cleans your sensors with no luck recommendation for companies that actually do come out and Hydro flush your black tank from the outside with a pressure washer have recommended once or twice a year to do that to help keep your maintenance up on that however I do not recommend hiring one when you can actually do it yourself because they cost over 200 bucks to come out and Hydro flush your black tank hope thatโ€™s helpful have a good day thank you for the video

  • I appreciate your videos. I think they're well made and informative.
About the Rhino Blaster with gate valve. I bought it and I'm not certain it's worth anything more than the window it provides to see what comes out. Please correct me if I'm wrong! First of all, the hose will not pressure wash any significant area of the tank at all. Also, it seems that the only way to know that my black tank was filled was by looking. So, rather than backfill, I got a flashlight and used the toilet's flush function till I could actually see the water at the bottom of the toilet drain.ย
So, is there a way to know you've filled the tank from outside the vehicle? Same question for the gray tank. Thanks.

  • After watching your video I have some honest comments. Nice holding tank rinse out video.
Your first section with ice cubes and dishwasher detergent, you need to explain that the black tank needs to be at least 1/3 of water for this to work. If the tank is empty, the dishwasher detergent will sit on the bottom like regular poop. There are plenty of YouTube videos showing that using expensive RV/Marine TP isnโ€™t worth the extra price, just use any โ€œseptic friendlyโ€ TP and DONโ€™T WAD up the TP.
All of your options that you show in this video are basically backfill rinse out options. To actually clean the tank, Iโ€™ve found only 1 thing that will get rid of the hard grime on the sides and sensors to like new. Using a sewer pressure jetting kit will clean to like new. Easy to do and less than $100 for a kit. Full timers should use annually and weekenders should use biannually. Plenty of videoโ€™s out that show how to and some actually show results of before and after.
Thanks for helping the newbies to our community.

  • Thanks for the video. When I use the rhino blaster to shoot the water into the black tank, how do I know when is the tank full and need to
    Turn off the water?

  • Love our rhino blaster 45 even though it doesn't have the gate valve. Still does a good job replacing a black tank flusher

  • Bleach is a chemical so it should be triple rinsed just as a pesticide container is supposed to be that is a universal safe number of times even though I still wouldnโ€™t drink it

  • Hello Mike. Really enjoy your educational videos! I will be RVing on my own. When flushing your black tank, how long do you think it takes for you to fill the black tank with water when flushing/draining. And, are you filling the black tank all the way full or to about 1/3 full to allow the water to swish around when you take a drive? I just don't want to keep running back and forth to check my readings. My RV is about the same size as yours, Thor Freedom Elite 23H. Thanks so much, Stephanie

  • I wonder how well a sewer jetter hose connected to a pressure washer would work? I have one called the "Clog Hog".

These hoses are pretty handy to have around for plumbing in general. I've even used it to blast out clogged underground gutter drains ๐Ÿ˜†.

  • Can you add the bleach at the same time to clean and sanitize during the ice method?

  • Well, did the flushing clear up the sensor issueโ€ฆ? I need closureโ€ฆlol

  • is their a reason you cant mix the bleach and dishwashing detergent? Does the detergent have ammonia or vinegar in it?

  • Do you need the Rhino Blaster if you have a black water fill connection at my connection center where my fresh water connection is located? Does this spray hard enough? I have the Rhino Blaster w/o the gate valve and actually use both.

  • Thank you so much for sharing. We have had our RV since June (just a couple of months). This video was very helpful as our tanks have always showed they were full. (Bought a used RV)

  • just bought a bumper pull. my first purchase Rhino Blaster with Gate Valve- feeling pretty good about it.

  • Thank you!! Question! I'm assuming the Rhino blaster can be used on Gray tank as well? We have a galley tank that did NOT have a way to flush. That is where we have the majority of our smell come from. Likely food particles and such
