  • I spent five entire seasons or about ten months canoe tripping in northern Ontario and Quebec and the only danger the groups I was camping with ever really faced was from a couple incidents where we were in close proximity to gang fights or threats of gang fights from juvenile delinquents in crappy little towns with lots of idle older teenagers. The only time we ever had to chase an animal out of our campsite was just one single incident involving a badger which backed off when the guide threatened the animal with an axe. There’s really not much crime in areas where there are very few people. You’d be more likely to get robbed while pumping gas in an urban setting after dark where robbers sometimes rob motorists pumping gas since that’s easier than going inside to rob the cashiers in the gas station. But if you’re open carrying an automatic pistol that will deter most would be carjackers who might be thinking of taking your vehicle.

  • you are totally right! Live ya life and just be happy

  • I realize I'm 2 months behind on this video but I love quiz games so hope it's okay to belatedly play along. My guesses…. 1. 450 killed by: Allergic reactions to foods, drugs etc. 2. 33 die of: Hit by car while in crosswalk or on sidewalk. 3. 75 killed by: Mishap with lawn mower, wood chipper, chain saw etc. *Woohoo* got one partly right!**

  • I'll admit that one of my irrational fears is swimming in the ocean where there might be sharks. I have done it, of course, but always worry about that. This fear has been amplified by the more recent use of drones showing how close some of these sharks get to swimmers and surfers than you'd guess. Living in the middle of Michigan, surrounded by beautiful ocean-like freshwater lakes, I've managed to still enjoy the experience, without the fear. As to RVing alone, my biggest fear would be the traffic in some cities I may have to go through! On a recent trip south to visit my grandkids, in and around certain areas, I was gripping the chicken bars in my daughter's vehicle more times than not, lol!

  • Once a bear followed me as I walked down my road in a small New Mexico village. He only wanted the plums.

  • I've been single, or "alone," most of my adult life by choice. I have married friends that don't get how I can go into a restaurant n have a meal, alone. Or go to the show, alone. Or go to festivals or if town, alone. That has never bothered me. I'm not paranoid, but I am aware of my surroundings. I look around the parking lot coming out of a mall. I look at the cars parked next to mine in a public garage. I refuse to ball up n hide from the world. I love that you did this video. It's a topic in almost every FB women's camping group. Thanks again for addressing it!

  • My biggest fear is having the RV break down and not being able to get it fixed or afford to have it fixed. Everything else …bears, snakes, being alone, etc., doesn't make me tremble. But I am cautious with strangers and snakes… and I haven't run into a bear yet. I've heard one isn't supposed to run if confronted with one but I know that's exactly what I'd do! lol

  • Carolyn, I remember the video when you whipped that sword out from under your bed. It was one of the most hilarious things I ever saw. πŸ˜‚

My experience is that I have been in some areas where I have seen really creepy people to the point where I have been watched. Stalking is a strong word, but that's what it felt like. Now I don't go to certain places alone where I might be seen by a creep but unable to get help, like off a road on the way to a populated area, similar to where you were when those guys were casing out your RV. I'll add that there is nothing special about my appearance, and I don't go out of my way to attract attention.

Like you, I prefer being alone. The forest up by the Grand Canyon North Rim is great – I can really bury myself and still have 2 bars (of course, my vehicle isn't as noticeable as an RV). Although I can't think of anyone more introverted than myself, sometimes I feel the need to go to a nearby small town even if it's just to rub shoulders with others.

I like your channel and it would be really nice to caravan with you someday.

  • I can see ur pain,,,, SORRY amasing statistics..!!!!

  • Also from my experiences, I've realized also that if certain women aren't doing such a great job at Raising their sons , and put them through things that as children they should never have to go through, that also can put people at risk! It all begins at childhood, and how people treat their children in the beginning and teach them, that determines all safety of everyone else, these days, women, children, and men, are not safe due to their past upcoming! We all need to come together, pray, think positively, ect…. for a better outcome of the future, the only reason why people are scared is because what they've been told, taught, educated, by their own parents whether adopted or biological!!? So we all need to change, have strong beliefs and love to grow, be good and be happy!!☺

  • Thank you for sharing Carolyn!! Much love and prayers to you always to be safe, well and protected!!! Amen πŸ™ πŸ™ πŸ™ love you girl! Stay strong as you are and I'll see you next time!πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘β€πŸ₯°

  • Lol! Your nuts lady! There are giant hungry hairy beast hiding in those trees and caves. Hungry! I heard one and it sounds very large and mean! They tell us that its bears, they know it's not! You better hope you never come across any. There's something up there that wants to eat you. You and your husband would be no match for them. Missing people and so many bigfoot sightings, don't be a fool. Go home and stay near others. They will RIP your eyes and tongue out! Beware lady. Even pull people's arms off and eat them. A giant angry hungry beast! I will never go back! You shouldn't either! Stay safe, YouTube creator is not worth your life! Bye! Ps, if you do survive one, you would be permanently traumatized for life! Beware lady

  • Thank you for letting me know about your experiences and views of traveling solo as a woman.

  • I just brought to your channel from a suggestion Listening to Bob Wells ! You said you're the master at finding places to park ! I read your description and almost pissed my pants. "I might drop a F bomb" πŸ˜† I knew I had to subscribe. Looking forward to your content. Good Vibes πŸ‘£

  • Even though I was married for 40 years and my husband died 10 years ago, I would never get involved with another man. Men at my age 70 are looking for someone to care for them. No thanks. I loved my husband very much. I can't imagine replacing the love of my life.

  • I had an antique brass bed that was so high. After 40 years, I got rid of that bed and got a lower bed. Fell out of bed twice. Still alive, but cautious. In my 70's.

  • Thank you. I'm about to head out on my solo travel adventure; your info gives me more peace of mind πŸ‘πŸΌ

  • Right on the button, Carolyn! Not only have I overcome any fear I had about RVing alone, (I go with my husband too, but I have my own little RV too for solo trips) but I also overcame my nervousness about being at our remote off grid cabin in the Yukon wilderness alone, except for the bears of course!. I look back on when I WAS a bit scared and can't believe I ever felt that way. Face your fear and punch it in the face! Get out there gals!

  • I loved this vlog! Thanks Carolyn!

  • You go girl….you are so correct . I've watched bears run from me in AK when I drop my voice, growl and make a loud deep sound, i.e bang on something. Always carry a stick or pole. They don't waste energy fighting when it's easier running. Too bad humans aren't like that.

  • This is such an important message. Thank you. I've learned to trust my gut… and I choose to be alone, because past experience has been mostly bad experiences. I've been saving for a few years now. Tomorrow I go to look at some RV's. Here's to hoping I find what works for me. Love you video's.

  • Great video! I saved this one for future reference. I’m 68 yrs old and just bought an RV to live in , on the road. I’ve been following you for awhile now and you are most definitely my β€˜go to’ person for down to earth advice on also any aspects of full-time RV living. I live in B.C., Canada

  • Good subject. Loved the statistics. πŸ˜ŠπŸ’– I don't fear, I am cautious, but I get these same questions a lot.

  • Do we use Sadie50, for the Waggle? I don't see the link. Sorry I'm not very good at this stuff. πŸ’–

  • Hi there Carolyn. You are so awesome. Thank you for putting all of these things in perspective.
