Trump Admits Downside to Running in 2024
Will he or wonât he? Thatâs been the question on the mind of nearly everyone in America regarding President Trump running for office again in three years.Â
When Trump joined Fox News host Greg Gutfeld to ruminate about the question, he identified a potential downside to running for the White House again in 2024 â CNNâs ratings would go back up.
Trumpâs remarks were aired in a video segment of an interview with Gutfeld.
The pair began discussing the anti-Trump network with Gutfeld lamenting that CNN only reports stories that support a defunding the police narrative.
âThey denied the rising crime thatâs going on because of the defunding of the police ideology and the demoralization of the cops,â he charged. âNone of the networks are covering it except for Fox.â
Gutfeld later quipped, âOne problem with you running for president again is that youâre going to save CNN. You are aware of that.â
âThatâs a problem,â Trump replied without missing a beat. âI am very proud of what Iâve done for them. They are down 81%.â

Trump 2024 Might Be CNNâs Only Hope
Nielsen data has shown CNNâs ratings have fallen on hard times in the post-Trump era, failing to hit 1 million viewers during daytime programming over 50% of the time over the past three months.
In primetime, they only eclipsed the 1 million viewer mark on 12 of the past 92 days.
Their highest-rated primetime show featuring anchor Chris Cuomo saw ratings plunge in the wake of his brother Governor Andrew Cuomoâs resignation and a NY Attorney General report that showed he helped craft a defense for big broâs multiple sexual harassment allegations.

Fox News analyst Joe Concha believes the only thing that can throw CNN a lifeline would be a Trump 2024 campaign.
âWhen you lose your primary focus of the past five years, and cheerleading for Joe Biden just doesnât make for compelling TV, the only hope is that Trump comes back to the big stage,â Concha said.
And while there is an element of humor to the analysis of CNNâs ratings by Trump, Gutfeld, and Concha, the latter adds a sobering point that it will be to the detriment of the American viewer.
âNo matter, most of the media will focus on Trump anyway in the most negative and hostile manner possible,â he explains.
âRatings â yeah, theyâll probably go back up as the integrity and credibility of a once-proud media industry will somehow sink to new lows.â

CNNâs Hard Times
CNN reporter Jim Acosta, just three short months into President Bidenâs term, admitted that journalists are suffering from âpost-Trump stress disorderâ ever since Trump left the White House.
But he remained upbeat about the future.
âWe did cover the news before Donald Trump came along, and we did it pretty well, and thereâs going to be plenty of stuff in the news out there that doesnât have to have Donald Trump in the headlines for us to continue to exist,â he suggested.

Others have noticed CNNâs failings as well.
Popular podcast host Joe Rogan, delivered an epic smackdown when he mocked CNN for their ratings during the pre-Trump 2024 era and called Brian Stelterâs show out in particular saying itâs âf***ing terrible.â
He went on to blast Stelter for fawning over White House Press Secretary Jan Psaki during an especially embarrassing interview.
âHow about Brian Stelter talking to the press secretary, âWhat are we doing wrong? What are we doing wrong?ââ Rogan teased. âLike, hey motherf***er, youâre supposed to be a journalist.â

âHey motherf***er, youâre supposed to be a journalistâ is pretty much an evergreen response after watching any segment on CNN.

⊠he got railroaded by Michael Wolff, author of several anti-Trump books, accusing him of being the âflip side of Donald Trump.â
Wolff hammered away at Stelter in an interview with the CNN anchor this past July, saying he is âone of the reasonsâ that âpeople canât stand the media.â

And of course, legendary journalist Ted Koppel in 2018 predicted CNNâs current predicament telling Stelter and his network their âratings would be in the toilet without Donald Trump.â
Video: To consternation of @BrianStelter, Ted Koppel contended during 10/1 Kalb Report @PressClubDC: âYou would be lost without @realDonaldTrump. CNNâs ratings would be in the toilet without Trump.â Stelter: âTed, you know thatâs not true. Youâre playing for laughs.â #NPCLive pic.twitter.com/XGZl9yNzqh
