  • This is the most helpful video I’ve found on this topic. Thank you for showing what happens inside the camera!

  • Doesn't that Minolta X-300 on your desk have a "film advance indicator"? (It does).
Even after shooting a single film, you can feel the lack of resistance if the film isn't properly loaded when you try to advance it – at least if you don't use a motor drive.

  • I have a cannon ar 1- what if I just have it set on program?

  • I had a blank roll once and now its my biggest fear. Eventually you can feel the difference in the film advance between when its actually pulling the film forward and when its not but I still have low level anxiety every time I rewind a roll

  • Sent a couple rolls of film to a lab and they said the photos were too foggy to be developed and scanned. I don’t think it’s my camera as I bought it in mint condition, I think it’s because the film was expired and also I loaded it wrong. Is it ok if when unloading a roll of film, your back of the camera is open while winding it and the sun/light hits all of the film?

  • Are you a victim?

  • Very helpful, I just loaded my first roll of film! Thank you!

  • I took 7 shots and when i open and check the film is not correctly stacked so i rolled it back and stack it once again, if i shoots from 1 again is the result from 1-7 will it be double exposure?

  • Any tips on how to check Step #2 on an Exakta VX? I’m not sure if I’ve seen the rewind move to check it.

  • Also a good tip is to check if you have a rewind lock button it still rewinds but it's a bit ruffer
I ripped my film and almost cried
Also tightening the film is good too

  • I’d love to see how to load a Nikon 23ti

  • I have a Zeiss Ikon contaflex. My film roll doesn't fit into the take up spool, or I just can't get it fit and stay in there.. No idea why. It's a 35mm film for a 35mm cam

  • I have had a strange situation with a view master mark II camera. The film is loaded on an angle and the indicator was moving when the camera was first loaded. However, after a few shots the indicator stopped moving! I had to open the camera to see what was going on but it seemed to be advancing. When I closed the camera again the indicator started moving again without adjusting the film. Even when the indicator stopped the film advancer felt heavy so I am thinking the indicator is a bit lose from the roll due to the diagonal position of the film can. Rewind seemed to be working as well.

  • How do you know how many shots you have to purge in the beginning? I was wondering about this. My gut sais 2.

  • What will happen if I accidentally open back cover while already shot few photos . Will it ruin all the precious photos ?

  • I just got my first 35mm camera passed down from my great aunt, and am trying to do all the research I can before shooting my first roll. this was a wonderful guide and I feel very confident that I'm loading correctly now! thank you so much!

  • Loaded my film but the advance lever wont move past halfway.

  • I am not sure I did it right with my point & shoot. I only took 2 pictures yet but I've been doubting if I did "entered" it right since the beginning. Can I take it out and do it again? Or what do you recommend?

  • Hi, I just got a film camera yesterday and I am really excited, does anyone have any tips on how to shoot, this is almost a completely new skill set for me?

  • Hey pushing film,
I am very new to shooting film and I want to know how far to insert the leader of the film into the take-up spool? (I have a Pentax mg if that matters)
    -Thanks

  • Relatable scenario: My mon told me that during my christening, it was a huge celebration. There were a lot of visitors. My godfather was the one assigned to take photos, there were a lot of shots, but it ended with just a blank roll 🥲 so yeah, I don’t have any photos back when I was just 4 months old haha

  • On my last 2 rolls only half were blank, only the first half. The last 15 or so photos were fine. What would cause this?

  • Does the rewind spool spin on the Minolta srt102? I’ve been shooting some film and haven’t developed any of it and now I’m worried because the rewind spool never spins. Other than that I’ve never had any issues.

  • Any tips on my Olympus o2 M ? The film feeder is jammed and lever won’t turn to click , we have removed the film but still nothing

  • I have a canon a1 and I went shooting today with it for the first time, I had film that didn't have a leader on it but it fit right into the camera and I had it loaded and even the rewind spool was turning when I was taking pictures, I had a suspicion that the pictures weren't coming out on the film and I checked and I was right, also with this film it stopped talking pictures at 12 instead of 36, and it wouldn't advance past 12. Does anyone have an explanation?

  • I have some concerns with regards on loading a fresh roll onto my film cam. I am a newbie and I am wondering if i loaded it right. If the rewind knob is turning, is it a sign that I loaded it correctly? Thank you ✨
