ℹ️About the episode:
In last week’s episode, we drive from AZ to TX to pick-up Platinum Ginger – 2017 Airstream Flying Cloud 30′ Bunkhouse. The RV essential gear and tools we took for the drive home created a good opportunity to create the RV Newbie Essential Gear Video Second Edition. After RVing 164,000 miles across the US, Canada, Mexico, New Zealand and Alaska, we have a pretty good idea on what is 100% essential and simply nice to have and this video breaks that down.

Love you guys! You always crack me up! Great info also! Tire stuff is great to know, as we have not had to replace our tire on our 1 year old rig yet. But when we do we are likely to upgrade. Have found proper air pressure is huge when traveling on not the greatest of roads and/or in bad weather!

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with great information. We are 12 weeks away from taking delivery of our new 5th wheel and we will have everything we need to "start" our new adventure. Hope to see you on the road. Marc and Kathy.

Thanks for another excellent video. I really enjoyed it.
We've been RVers for nine years now, so, we knew a lot of this mateial. We still learned things from this, especially about tires & wheels.
Thanks for creating a reference resource on your website. I will be consulting it regularly.
Next step: getting the wife to agree to selling the house, and hitting the road full-time.
    Happy Trails

Hi Mark. Do you use the black Zero G hose for drinking water or do you have another drinking water Zero G hose for that?

Tools…. I might have missed it but a jack is very important. I like using bottle jacks with proper extensions. Knee pads are always in my rig. Thanks for your channel. I think it is one of the best on you tube.

Hello Leach family, good tips on what to bring along. Marc, at the 8:50 mark of the video you show the ZeroG hose currently at $29, WHERE can I find that? I checked your Amazon page, it list for $41. Take care and be safe!

Perfect video, on spot for newbies and old farts like me. Can always learn a new trick, TPS on my 2017 Ford truck is working great with our Airstream Classic. The rear video is okay, wish it was live. If 2020 opens up for us, stop by Ky for a Bourbon tour, I have a parking spot for you folks.

Good vid and good info on the tires. Glad you guys went with the Goodyear Endurance tires. I love them. Out them on our hybrid TT and did a 2000 mile round trip from Northern VA to Disney World in early Feb and felt safe on those tires. Plus I could do 70-75mph with no issue and no sway.

Hi KYD Team!! Nancy and I really enjoy your stories from beginning to today. Your humour really helps us see true reality, the good and the challenging times. Thank you for sharing. We are just starting our RV adventures, we are a couple approaching retirement, with kids in their 20's. We just purchased a travel trailer 24 foot cabin, and very excited to get started with some travel after the CV19 clears. My question for you, I see you have had a few different sizes and types of trailers, so if you had to do this all over again starting back at the beginning of your RV adventures, what would you do different? Different trailer size or type? Love to hear a few of your gems of wisdom 🙂 …Rob

The stinky slinky part and that scene when you realize you forgot something crack me up everytime.
Very informative video. I'll forget most of it probably but that's why YouTube is useful because I can rewatch when needed

Maybe I missed it but one thing to bring along is your common sense. Many forget to pack it. That list can quickly grow. Do you have 2 spare tires for the Dairystream ? Probably not planning on Alaska again though. I hope you are all safe and healthy and you enjoy the time with the boys. This time will forge their future, that is if no one snaps. Seriously I really enjoyed seeing the boys and Victoria grow up, my kids are older and I miss going out in a National forest on an all day hike with them. Be safe!

The sewer hose support is THE most over-rated RV accessory. We have been across the country and back and needed that thing exactly ZERO times. I used it once, just cause I had it, but it wasn’t needed and was just one more thing to pack up. Not even the most backwoods RV parks put your sewer drain uphill from where you park.

Hi KYD. We’ve been following you for a couple of years. Good decision on the Airstream. Your last one…not so good? Haha! A different type question. I’ve been thinking of wearing a watch again after several years without. Is that a Garmin watch you’re wearing. If so witch one and how do you like it. Was thinking of a basic Casio but might want to go with Garmin. Am looking at the Garmin Instinct. We love the KYD hat. It fits my wife best. Thanks. Randy and Carmen. I guess I’ve been lucky never had trailer tire blow out . I’ve officially just jinx myself lmao . I did have a huge bolt go through one of my brand new truck tires I had put on for the trip . Luckily it happened at the campground we were staying at and not on the road . Just cost me another brand new tire 😂

I just watch this video of you guys getting the airstream. I just love the way he calls the tools monkey wrench that was not a monkey wrench it was a channel lock. I’m not busting your balls and I enjoy your videos. It would be nice to meet up on a trip, retired no reason not to be anywhere.

filling your tires with nitrogen the will run cooler and last longer and lose less air. You can never have two meany tools lol, One thing that u missed was a RV electric fault plug. Before unhooking check the plug and make sure the voltage and ground are in working order. Several times over the past 40 years I have found parks with improper or defective sights. nothing worse than getting all set up and finding the electric is defective and having to hook back up and change sights. and always black tanks fiest then the gray to wash it out.
