Ultimate Newbies Guide to Quartzsite: RV Boondocking Capital of the World

Every winter Quartzsite, Arizona is flooded with hundreds of thousands of visitors. So much so that it has become known as the RV boondocking capital of the world. We had to go check it out for ourselves, and want to share some of the tips we learned along the way.

There are a lot of paid and FREE camping options around Quartzsite. We wanted to be close to the big tent where the RV show takes place each year, so we chose to stay at the La Posa West LTVA site where we paid $40 USD for a 2-week stay. By staying here, we were within walking distance of the show and south of the highway to avoid the intense traffic around town.

Other BLM and LTVA camping options around Quartzsite are:
La Posa North LTVA (south of I-10)
La Posa South LTVA (south of I-10)
Scaddan Wash BLM (south of I-10)
Hi Jolly BLM (North of I-10)
Plomosa Road BLM (North of I-10)

We also spent a day exploring the RV show, where we met Shawnna and Brian from Lyf_Uninterupted, saw The Flipping Nomad’s Ultimate Montana, and found the most expensive motorhome on the lot.

  • So here's question for those that love to let their dogs run free! What's going to happen if my dog is leashed up and tied to my truck and your free roaming dog decides to invade my dogs space and my dog eats yours? I like to let my dog run also but there is a time and place for it. NOT in a place like this.

  • i thing your opening statements are wrong, never saw the stores empty as you show. never had any issues with anything you started to explain. its easy to stay out here. even the traffic was not as bad as youtuber describe. I've stayed three years straight with no issues, you just need to know when to do things. 1. use a bike to travel around the area. buy groceries for long periods of time

  • Glad to find your channel. I’m in Barrie starting our second season with our motor home. Looking for tips and advice on Canadian destinations. Looking forward to the year my wife retires so we can winter down south

  • When we moved across country we bought this giant zippered tube thing specifically for letting animals have the whole back seat but keeping them safe. It was working great until one cat learned how to unzip it, but the general idea was cool.

  • Standard 12VDC "cigarette" outlets are 10 amp. Our tire inflator/compressor (Viair) draws much more than that so I always jump direct from the truck battery.

  • Another great video! Maybe we will drop by quartzite one of these days! Be fun to meet up with people there. That class a was wow! We have Jasper on a harness and short leash that attaches to head rest because he won’t do a carrier. Bloopers were fun! You all are great!!!

  • We’ve been thinking about going to Quartzsite to experience the show and community. This video gave us a good feel for it! Would we be out-of-place with our micro camper among all the bigger RVs?
