We're Stuck in the Mud! – Bennington Battle Monument & Covered Bridges

The short time we’ve spent in the Green Mountain National Forest has not been so good to us. It didn’t take us long as full time RVers before we got stuck for the first time.

After staying in the Allegheny National Forest in Pennsylvania for only a few days, Jenni and I went back on the road to get to the Green Mountain National Forest in southern Vermont. The original site we had scoped out on Google Satellite was already taken, so we settled for a much smaller, much muddier spot a mile down the road.

It had been raining in the national forest for four days straight so it was very muddy, and our truck is only two wheel drive, so we ended up getting stuck in the mud at our site – and oh am I regretting not having four wheel drive. Rain is in the forecast for the next couple of days so while we wait for everything to dry out we’re going to pass the time by heading into a nearby town – Bennington, Vermont – and explore a Revolutionary War monument as well as some very old covered bridges.
