ℹ️About the episode:
As Trish said in this episode, the best way to see New Zealand is by caravan http://bit.ly/KYD-Wilderness It’s like a front a row seat to this beautiful county. We’re able to take our time in the places we love and keep moving when we have ground to cover. There is no way to see it all, so you’ll have to pick and choose depending on your interests, but one thing is for sure, you’ll never be disappointed!

If you’re from the States, the first thing you’ll notice is the lack of full-size trucks. We finally saw a GMC Sierra Denali in Wanaka, NZ and we had to stop to see the price. I knew it would be a lot, but we were blown away by the sticker. Even after the exchange rate, this diesel truck was twice the price as the States.

I’m just in awe of the beauty all around you.
the drone takes great footage. real clear and sharp.
Just found you guys and have been bingeing you on the TV (and loving it) but had to come and leave a comment about the full size truck thing.
The biggest cost factor that you were missing was that any full size US truck you see in Australia/NZ has been converted to right hand drive by a third party business. (it's likely that truck was Shipped to Australia, converted in AUS, then shipped to NZ.. paying fees and taxes at every step)
Even though all of the major brands sell trucks/utes here they won't bring over full size variants (it would be a small volume that would cannibalise their mid size truck market share so probably not worth the cost to them). The only exception is RAM. They aren't importing them, it's still a third party business, but RAM have given factory support so they have warranty and the Aus company can justify greater volume which also lowers the price a bit.. And they're selling well. We've been desperate for them because there are so many things you can't do with what's otherwise available here. (biggest down side at the moment is the models tend to be a year or so old.. though that is improving)
As is, RAM 1500 models are priced between about $80k-$120k AUD (so about $60k-$85k USD) which puts it at the top end of mid size truck prices (a top spec Ford Ranger is about $80k) and equal to some luxury brands or traditional larger 4×4 vehicles like Toyota Landcruisers (often about $120k). So all things considered it makes them competitive enough. The other brands that are still having to be imported in small numbers generally cost about $150k AUD ($110k USD) so you only do that if you want/need something specific.
I'd prefer my next vehicle to be an F250 but I don't know if I can justify paying the extra 25% price jump over the RAM 2500. Decisions decisions..
So much fun to follow you in New Zealand. It is so beautiful there! Thanks for sharing.
USA has no federal sales tax , why top of the range 2500 is $75000usd without taxes in usa why you see less in Australia and new Zealand high car taxes
wow! To see Carson fly a plane (and in NZ!) when he can't even drive yet is amazing! The gift you're giving your children is beyond incredible–for them to be a part of all these experiences is beyond anything they could learn in school. You both are going to have three incredibly well-rounded kids. Good for you!
Carson flying in NZ. At what age? AWESOME. Very impressive. You must rename this video "Carson is flying in New Zealand".
Who cares about another truck.
you guys are just gold
Trisha is patriah of the family
Awesome adventures but when Carson got to fly….that was icing on the cake !!!
Amazing ✈️ you guys are just amazing brave, adventurous people. Your kids are just as amazing!!! I love these videos!!!!🚐
Mom sure can cook!!
Amazing. Everything. Thanks for sharing!
Way to go Carson, a man after my own heart.
Rather than saying I get motion sick I just say I have a highly developed inner ear 🙂. $120,000 trucks make me truck sick.
Carson WINS hands down….Wonderful young man, just wonderful
Wow‼️That’s the most I’ve ever heard Carson talk😳😮
Wahoo! as a pilot myself I would have loved to go for a flight in a different country during flight training, nice landing too. Love your channel!
I recently found your channel and subbed immediately. Such great content. I have to say the most epic scenery I've seen has to be New Zealand and Norway.
Is Carson planning to return to AZ for ERAU to fly?
Hey I have a question witch company do you use for network on the go
The views are AMAZING 😍!!! Fantastic opportunities for you guys!!! Plus that purple garden OMG!!
It totally cracks me up how your teenagers act just. Like. Mine…and we live in Texas!!! He even clicks his airpods holder like my oldest! Drives. Me. Nuts!!! And everything is "trash"!
The trucks cost more because they have to be converted to Right hand drive, not because of shipping cost/tax.
Sounds like Carson will be an amazing pilot in the days to come!!! Lovely coverage overall. thank you.
Wow! Just the landscape………. mind blown!
Carson 🤠 the 🐄 Whisperer! Great Line!
The reason the USA trucks are so expensive in NZ is none of the manufactures build them in RHD so there is a cost of $35000 NZD to change one from left to right steer, the exchange rate works against us, the shipping cost is high as they do not fit in a container and on top of it all there is 15% tax one the whole figure. Love what you do by the way.
You guys are the best
Bees rarely sting when out collecting. Once you are a precived threat to the hive then you'll be stung.
Is Carson interested in becoming an airline pilot? Joining the air force is a great way to get there. My brother was an air force pilot and flew many types of planes. After 10 years, he was hired by Delta. Then he jointly worked as an instructor pilot in air force reserves and continued to fly for Delta. He retired as a colonel a couple years ago and still flies for Delta. Anyway, I remember him telling me that the airlines hire 100% of applicants coming from the air force.
One of the main reasons New Zealand don't have those big trucks is the price of gas. Remember Americans pay for gas by the gallon, which I think is 3.9 liters per gallon.
I want those crepes!
What are the "largest" trucks actually sold in NZ? Like a Toyota Tacoma.
