  • Good Morning. I have checked with Grand Design owners and a slider is about 50/50 for a slider . Jack

  • Wish I'd watched this video before I attempted my first decoupling. What an evening that was. I had to calm myself, try to call for help…of course everyone had gone home who could help me. I watched another video snd paused to pray with my wife that God would help me figure it out. I went back and read the instructions on the ground control and remembered that the video said to backup to free the pressure on the hitch connection. Then I was finally able to unlatch the release mechanism, raise the hitch a bit and disconnect. Wish the service guy had spent a few more minutes with me to explain those steps. I thank you immensely for your information. The part about the brakes on the control in the car while moving forward and backwards was priceless. RF

  • this was extremely well-done video – I really like the little tips – thank you Sir

  • Great video what I do is after you are all
Hook up.I look to make sure the jaws are closed an then I raise the front landing
gear about an 1 inch off the ground. Then get back in truck set the trailer break. An do a tug test. Be safe in your travels.

  • I use a B&W Companion, 6.75 ft box, I turn 90° all day long, and haven't even used the turning point hitch yet, I'm not sure why your GD didnt come with the turning point. I can only assume you dont have a 150 series. If that's the case, you are probably over payload once your loaded. Have you scaled your rig loaded. I haven't seen a Ram 2500 with a payload over 2600 unless you run a has engine.

  • I have the same hitch. To avoid the problem of unlocking the hitch, I chock the trailer tires, and then reverse the truck about one inch. This takes the pressure off the hitch jaws, and it releases easily, everytime.

  • Thanks for the video! Just purchased my first RV (Grand Design, Reflection 150 Series (260RD). The video was a BIG HELP for me to create a checklist. Also now I feel more confident that I can couple and decouple the fifth wheel. So far I've only done with the dealerships assistance.

  • I'm looking for insights about using my Ram 2500 hemi for this model of 5th wheel. My payload is just under 2900#. I'm thinking of adding airbags and registering as 11000# gvwr with DOT to guarantee it will be street legal since the axel ratings, brakes, and tires should easily handle that for a few trips a year. I'm curious to hear what you do to help your Ram 2500 handle the load.

  • Thanks for the information so important for beginners like me .

  • Great information. We are going to our 1st 5th wheel in the next 3 weeks . Thanks

  • Great video!

We bought our rig barely used and it came with an new Anderson hitch. I really like the Anderson hitch. Super quiet, light weight, easy to hook up and the 5th wheel cap clears my crew cab on my Ram 6-1/2’ bed.

  • Hey….I found u at daydreamaboutnicethings. I look forward to checking out your channel more thoroughly! Hope you will check out our channel. LUCRETIA-

  • Nice clear video that also showed a couple things I don't have or need yet… we don't have auto-leveling and we have a long-bed truck. But I'm always interested in tips and ideas. One thing I may have missed is did you talk about doing a pull test after connecting? I hear that can be complicated with auto-leveling systems but I think there is a specific sequence you can use to get the landing gear where you want it. Also when we disconnect we always drop the truck into neutral and take our foot off the brake to let it settle naturally after we have lifted the fifth wheel but before we try to open the jaws. This assumes we're on reasonably level ground of course. It usually makes it very easy to release the jaws.

  • Great video!! We are looking to get a 5th wheel camper in the fall. Thank you!

  • It’s the 1 strange guy. 😁. Great tips thank you so much. We will have an RV one day. I’m absorbing as much as I can.

  • Hello I saw you on The Art of RVing Live Chat and subscribed to your channel. Take Care and Keep Exploring The Outdoors.

  • Another great video thanks for sharing…Great advice on learning how a 5th wheel works…Keep the videos coming!!!

  • Very interesting, thanks for all the wonderful videos, I sure do enjoy them and keep them coming!

  • If and or when ever we get a 5th wheel, this information will come to be very useful. I have a 8 foot bed so do I need to have the slide hitch?

  • We don’t have a slider but I know how it works now. Someday I will help someone with theirs and take full credit for being so knowledgeable!😊 Great video thanks for posting and taking the time to produce it!!

  • Not many Fifth Wheels over here, but very interesting video. 🙂 Mark
