Hi Liz, the best gift I can ever give myself is when I buy a new or used or whatever RV, is new tires. I typically use a Michelin Light Truck Tire 10 ply rating or better. I'm just about to buy my 10th RV. Tires have given me the most grief of anything in an RV.

spent a lovely afternoon getting to know my fellow campers in a ladies room in arkansas after a tornado warning. tenters folded up their tents and brought the inside! isn't it aggravating when you are camped right on the time zone border and your phone keeps changing time when you walk 50 feet and the phone switches towers?

To continue about the laser thermometer, when checking tires, you are not looking for a certain temperature but an odd temperature. Tires should be pretty close on temp what ever they read. You are looking for the odd hot one.
Checking bearings like another poster mentioned is the same as tires, look for the odd hotter one. Before I had laser my rule of thumb was no hotter than you could keep your hand on even if a little uncomfortable.
If you can shoot laser through your wheel rim (hole in rim), shoot your brake drums when checking other items. A cooler than the others brake drum will alert you of a malfunctioning brake or one that needs adjustment. If you have self adjusters, a laser is a good way to check if adjusters are working.
As a bonus, if you are in snow country, hold the laser against something solid and shoot it horizontally through snow falling. The light show is fantastic.
    Keep up the good posts

Magnetic spice jars. You can get a set that comes with a stainless steel panel that screws to the wall, or you can stick them to your refrigerator or other metal surface. Handy for storing all kinds of small items. Command hooks, velcro straps, small multipurpose drawstring bags. A gift certificate to a nice nationwide chain hotel, for those times your rig must be in the shop, and you can't stay in it. A gift membership to a towing service, such as Good Sam or AAA. If they do a lot of boondocking, or stay in many places without cell service, or even if they don't, but they are alone, an emergency Personal Locator Beacon. Just make sure they understand they should only activate it in a dire emergency, and not something that is not life threatening, because it will alert everyone, and they'll come by land, sea, and air, if necessary. Okay, I've gone on too long and gone way past my two cents. Happy Holidays! And thank you for the video, I'm glad your hand is healing properly.

The thermometer is also good for checking axle bearings, just aim at the center of the rim.
