RV NEWBIE: TEAR DOWN CHECKLIST (KYD)

To download the RV Newbie Tear Down Checklist, visit https://KeepYourDaydream.com/tear-down and hop on our email list for even more KYD!

▶︎ About the episode:
If you haven’t seen our RV Newbie Setup video and checklist, check it out now. https://youtu.be/4-JQ7rnj7kM In that video, we cover all the necessary step to safely setup your towable RV in a new site. It wouldn’t be complete if we didn’t do the same thing for the tear down process.

One would think it’s just a matter of reversing the steps, however I was surprised to learn that there were far more steps when tearing down than setting up.

To download the checklist, click the checklist below and it will open as a PDF where you can save. But don’t stop there! Make changes and customize to your RV. Chances are good your RV has it’s own unique steps to ensure the safety of your and your equipment.

**This checklist is designed for a travel trailer and may not be complete for your rig. Your RV may have other steps necessary to ensure the safety of you and your equipment.

I just found your site today, and I've entertained myself all day during coronavirus quarantine, starting with Payload, Towing with a Half Ton Truck, Set Up, and Tear Down. Great videos.

The 7 way wire should be above the Henley. It may not be long enough for a sharp Right turn.

enjoyed the video of the tear down checklist, the only thing that concerns me that you don't lock your outside storage compartments or door, you did not check your lights (break, turn, running lights)

We really like the silverware caddy but didn’t see it on your amazon page, here did you get it? Any chance you have the name of the safety chain dongle you got from tractor supply (13:36)?

Thank you all for all the information you share. As we are preparing to go full time in the next couple of months we love soaking in all the information we can get. Some people take the videos for granted but certainly not us. We learn to avoid mistakes that others have unfortunately had to deal with but was gracious enough to share with others to prevent them from making the same mistake.
We are launching our 1st YouTube Channel Video hopefully within a week and our goal is the same as yours. SHARE THE EXPERIENCES BOTH THE GOOD AND THE BAD. Our channel name is RV With The Fee’s , hope you look us up and support us as prepare to set out on our own adventures. Thanks & God Bless

I have watched multiple episodes of getting ready to move videos and yours was the best. I wrote everything down.
We are living in an Rv park and getting ready to move across the park in to a nicer spot. We bought our camper empty and my son showed my new husband how to hook it up. Its never been moved in our 7m of owning it. Hopefully some day soon we can.

Another thing that you should do at this time before you start any of the tear down is check all the fluids in your tow vehicle. Check the air pressure in your tires on truck and trailer, Inspecting the belts and hoses. There is nothing worse than getting out on the road and having a belt or a hose fail and then try finding one in a small town, especially for these new trucks. Or carry a spare belt and a extra hose if you are going long distances and you know that there won't be any garage's around, also extra fluids. Believe me someday you will need it and not have it and wish you did. That day will come and it always does and there is never any cell coverage and then you have to sit and wait for someone to come along and help you or you walk. It's always better to be prepared for the worst and be able to to handle it than not be prepared for anything at all.

Run trailer pigtail thru hitch pin clasp not beside henly hitch. You handled power cable hot hooking up and breaking down, not good… Thanks still a great info source.

Nice fake back up, like u didnt unhook hitch and pull up off camera. Nice try. Why people like u try to act like u didnt pre stage hooking up ur hitch prior to filming. Ive been pulling trailers every day for the last 25 years so yes there are times with the occasional 1 try hook up but the fact u backed up and didnt have to touch the wheel its obviously bullshit staged hookup. Great staged job. Why dont u film a realistic hookup and id enjoy seeing u backup the trailer into a tight spot to see ur backup skillz

I will be Getn a RV Trailer (25-29?). I will be 'Hooking Up' on 10-acres,and be getting Electricity,Water, from a Double Wide (that's Permanently Set n grounded (15 yrs.)) My Question Is Your 'Electrical" WAS Huge!!?? Not to Mention Altogether Different!¿? How the Heck!? Am I guna Plug that 'I'N or God Forbid, should I "Blow" Thier Power Out @ Thier Circuit Board,Once I'm Properly Hooked Up (that'd be So Embarrassing!). Love the Info U 2 gave,on Camp Ground Site's,but I planning on Staying On A Friend's Property?

Thanks for the video! Just a small comment, I would use a rated shackle ( D shackle)instead of a carriage bolt from home depot. A 3 ton would work okay.

I was getting ready to take our TT out and for a refresher went back and watched this video again and noticed something about the breakaway cable. Isn't it recommended to have the breakaway cable slack slightly less than the safety chain slack? I believe the reasoning behind this is that if the TT was to disconnect and only the chains were maintaining the connection to the vehicle that the TT brakes would engage (more so than with just the brake controller, at max???) and allow you so slow in a more controlled manner and without the TT potential running into the back of the truck.
